Do you want the most authentic Matera experience? Stay at Sax Barisano bnb and meet Aldo and Rosa! We actually met Aldo on our first visit to Matera whilst perusing through Nisio’s pottery/ ceramic shop. We were fascinated by the various pieces and asked many questions. Aldo was answering some of them and could see our genuine interest in everything we saw. He later explained much of Matera’s history including that which he was a part of. We decided to return to Matera, based on Aldo’s review of the amazing ‘Presepe vivente’ (Nativity reenactment event). We stayed at Sax Barisano, Aldo and Rosas bnb. The accommodation is in the most accessible area of the Sassi. It is very comfortable and has everything you would expect and need, including a beautiful balcony with an amazing view. But even more than this, what makes it special is the very warm, genuine welcome and introduction to Matera that you will receive from Aldo. We have both traveled for a large part of our lives all over the world and we have rarely come across such an authentic, honest and caring host. We will always have magical memories of Matera thanks to meeting fabulous locals Aldo and Rosa.

Hosted by Aldo and his wife Rosa, this bed and breakfast is a lovely place to stay, in the heart of the Sassi in Matera. We were welcomed warm-heartedly and stayed in the beautifully decorated suite. Breakfast was served in the bar downstairs. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights at Sax Barisano. The property is perfectly located in the center of the Sassi neighborhood. The apartment was tastefully decorated in a traditional fashion with beautiful painted decorations on the arches of the walls. The whole apartment was 100% clean. There were wonderful smart details that we noticed like umbrellas for guest use, laundry soap and plenty of nice towels. The beds were very comfortable. The best thing about this property is the warm welcome and the beautiful breakfast. You will feel like you are treated with the utmost warmth and kindness by the hosts. We LOVED staying at Sax Barisano and look forward to returning in the future!

Il sig. Aldo e la moglie sono due persone squisite. Gentili, disponibili ed accoglienti. Sembra di andare a casa dei nonni. Il sig. Aldo é venuto a prenderci al parcheggio e ci ha portate ai sassi, ci ha dato tante indicazioni e consigli su come muoverci all interno dei sassi. Struttura pulitissima, accogliente, caratteristica e al tempo stesso ben attrezzata. Colazione dolce e salata in compagnia della moglie, simpatica e di piacevole compagnia. Consigliatissimo

beh, se non confermassi le recensiono di questo alloggio, farei davvero peccato.....oltre a riservare le attenzioni che hanno avuto con gli altri, a noi hanno regalato anche un pane da chilo!!!!!!! e che buono!!!....niente da aggiungere, bisogna solo avere la fortuna di trovare l'alloggio libero

In un luogo magico abbiamo conosciuto un anfitrione meraviglioso, il Signor Aldo, proprietario della struttura ci ha coccolato, viziato e ha reso il nostro soggiorno indimenticabile! La struttura è graziosissima, centralissima e molto curata. Aldo è unico!!!

Due notti a Matera nel b&b accolte da una coppia fantastica ALDO E ROSA persone squisite che sanno cosa vuol dire far sentire i loro ospiti come se fossero a casa propria Siamo state coccolate in tutto dal momento dell'arrivo al buongiorno con una colazione ricca di prodotti genuini tipici accompagnati da una crostata da 10 e lode della signora Rosa. Naiki il nostro pitbull é stata accolta a braccia aperta da tutta Matera. Grazie di tutto speriamo a presto.

La location curata , pulita, luminosa , bel bagno areato, la terrazza su via Fiorentini vale il viaggio , il Sig Aldo e sua moglie gentilissimi e attenti verso gli ospiti, la colazione ottima e abbondante,si va dai formaggi alle focacce ,calde, agli affettati e dolci.Devo dire che grazie a tutto questo , e la fantastica Matera, sono stati due giorni bellissimi.ps un ringraziamento particolare al Sig Liborio per averci svelato la vita antica di Matera .😘😘

Appena arrivati a Matera il proprietario Aldo ci ha aspettato per farci parcheggiare fuori dalla ztl e poi con la sua auto ci ha accompagnato al b&b, una persona eccezionale che ci ha spiegato le cose da visitare e la storia della città, camera molto bella e pulita con vista fantastica ma il fiore all’occhiello è la colazione con la crostata fatta a mano dalla signora Rosa oltre alla focaccia, la burrata, mozzarelle e salumi con formaggi.
