ピアネルレ・リゾート(Pianelle Resort)

Hotel was lovely. A great location, probably the best you can get. Fantastic room and spotlessly clean. All staff (with the exception of senior management) were very friendly and couldn’t do more to help. We booked the hotel partly for the stunning roof terrace and we’re really excited to have a drink up there on arrival. The barman however had to negotiate for us to sit on the terrace as a photographer and senior management team were taking photos and made it very clear were not happy about us being there; specifying where we should sit (no problem) and then standing between us and the view - despite not taking any photos. Unfortunately it ruined our first impressions of the hotel.

This was very special place that we stayed for 6 nites. Our suite was beautiful with details for our comfort. Breakfast delivered to our room each morning by a cheerful Yvonne. She made our stay the best. Great location for seeing the neighborhoods

Wonderful beautiful place with top-notch service! The rooms are so comfortable, the lounge is special, and breakfast is delicious! The front desk reception (Elionista - spelling?) was super helpful with directions, reservations and more. The lovely (blonde) woman who helped us with technology issues was always a smiling, welcoming presence. This is a very special place in an excellent location!

There are so many cave living hotel/b&b in Matera, difficult to choose. Glad that we chose Pianelle. Its location is perfect to explore the town and many dining places within 10 minutes of walk. This place is relatively new and rooms are spacious and modern with essential furnishings to keep the characters of cave. Services were very attentive especially when we were the only group staying. We chose it because it has a secured parking lot just out side of the old town and provides shuttle service without worrying the safety and strolling luggages, although the daily rate is a bit high Love our stay

The resort room is fantastic and the service is superb. Front desk communicated with us about the parking options the day before our arrival, and also helped us with taxi booking and sightseeing suggestions. Definitely will come back again!

The resort was unbelievable. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was impeccable and so comfortable. The area is perfect for exploring Matera. They also arranged for parking and transfer to the hotel which was so helpful. I highly recommend staying here.

What an incredibly wonderful surprise of a hotel in a beautiful town where there were so many from which choose. In doing my research from home, other reviews along with the photos of this property helped me with my decision, and we couldn't have been happier. Everything about this place was superb...from the location to the design and cleanliness as well as the amazing staff and owners. The rooms are bright and well designed with a minimalistic wonderful designer look to them and they were immaculate. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable with the highest quality of sheets. We loved being in room 54 with plenty of space and our own private terrace where we enjoyed our morning tea. The breakfasts were delicious and bountiful. An added plus was the public terrace they have on the top of their building where you can enjoy cocktails and an incredible view. The staff couldn't have been any more welcoming and delightful with a very special "thank you" to Ediola in reception who is an exceptional professional with superior customer service skills. We are so very grateful to her and to the wonderful owners who really know how to take care of their guests. I can't say enough about this property as it truly was one of the highlights of our 17 day trip through southern Italy. It was hard saying "goodbye" to Matera and to this gem of a hotel and the wonderful people who operate it. After touring Matera and learning all about the Sassis, we had a real appreciation for what it took to convert this property into the first class stunning hotel it is. Thank you, Ediola and the wonderful owners, for all you did to make our visit so memorable!

This hotel is exquisite. The clean, simple, modern decor juxtaposed against the white cave walls is quite stunning. The staff was accommodating , attentive and welcoming. A must for anyone staying in Matera.
