Pigs will fly and the world will end before I stay at this hotel again. I would rather go to a homeless shelter than return to this hotel, after the horrible experience that I had. I stayed here in February 2021 and I had erased the nasty experience from my mind, until I received a reminder to review the hotel in my e-mail today. All of the staff at this hotel will tell you bold-faced lies just to get you out of their face! I had a problem with an incidental deposit being charged twice on my credit card and sucking up the available funds; when I went to the front desk in hopes of a solution, the young woman working behind the desk was dismissive and rude and acted like I was crazy for not being okay with the fact that the hotel just tied my travel money up in a pending charge and I wouldn't be able to make a planned purchase because of it. I would say that only 1 of the front desk staff took me seriously and actually treated me like a human being, her name was Ruby if I recall correctly and she was a great help in calming me down from almost crying. I even had another front desk worker tell me that I'd actually been given a lower incidental rate than normal and that they usually charge 10 times more than what I was charged - basically he made excuses for what happened to me and made up lies on the spot, because nobody told me when I checked in that I was getting a supposed discount deposit rate! On top of this, the hotel made a mistake with extending my stay when I tried to add more nights IN PERSON AT THE FRONT DESK . Because of THEIR mistake in entering the change in the system, a bunch of staff came stomping to my door and were pounding, kicking, and yelling like I'd robbed them at gunpoint because they thought that I hadn't paid for my room, though I'd already paid IN PERSON AT THE FRONT DESK less than 5 hours prior. Nobody apologized for approaching me that way. And the kicker is that AFTER I checked out of the hotel, the hotel continued to charge me deposits almost every other day for an entire month!! I called to complain multiple times, wrote to a manager to complain multiple times, tried to complain to my credit card company but they couldn't do anything to block the hotel from taking money whenever they felt like it, and it didn't stop until I threatened to write a HONEST review about the horrible service and treatment I'd endured. If I ever return to Toronto, there is no way in hell that I will stay at the Fairfield again. I don't care if it's free for 1 night or 10 nights; I will NEVER even drive by that building again. The manager made me some empty promises about upgrading my room the next time I stay there, but he should give that offer to somebody else because Jesus Christ himself won't coax me back there as a customer. Just thinking about my experience again makes me livid!! The sad part is that I'm a former Delta hotel employee and I know that this is NOT the way to treat hotel visitors, but I guess based on my appearance and young-sounding voice they assumed that I was naive and had no knowledge of proper protocol. I recommend that you stay here only if you like seeing MULTIPLE AND REPEATED bogus charges on your credit card that you can't dispute because they're in pending mode!! If anyone I meet or know tells me that they're taking a trip to Toronto, I will vehemently warn them to avoid this hotel at all costs. By the way, at this hotel the housekeepers don't dust the furniture (so yes, that is the previous guest's shawarma stain on your coffee table), and they don't clean your bathtub and sink, they just dry the tub and sink with a rag and make sure that there are no water marks on the shower fixtures so that the tub and sink appear to have been cleaned. Ask me how I know that secret.
