We loved everything about this authentic hotel, the only one in art-deco style in the country. The staff was exceptional really going the extra mile and the kindest of our loo through the Western Cape. The room as spacious, the bed very comfortable, quiet, super clean and decorated with antique wooden furniture. But the best was the hotel restaurant. The food absolutely exceeded all pur expectations, taste, sourcing and presentation. Really nice atmosphere also. We enjoyed the spa after a day of rock climbing and mountain biking and did a Cadillac tour the next day which was done by the passionate hotel owner. If you are considering staying here doubt no longer and go for it. Will definitely return as Montagu keeps giving!

Chose this hotel as a one night stop (halfway) between Wilderness and Cape Town. And we were definitely not disappointed. Old style but quaint and well maintained. It has kept an old charm but is still modern (beds and bathrooms). Very nice breakfast display. Luscious gardens and small, functional pool for a cool down. We had an amazing dinner just 5 min walk around the corner at “22 Church Street” (need to reserve’). Easy to walk to and safe at night. We can def. recommend Montagu C. H.

Comfortable and accommodating retro style hotel in the centre of Montagu. Nice relaxing breakfast and a good dinner any day of the week. Rooms well sized and comfortable, all with AC. No lift(elevator) to upper floors, not a problem for us.

The bedroom and living room/kitchen were very large and comfortable. We enjoyed our dinner. Good protected parking. Nice garden and swimming pool. The were quite a few leaves in the pool. Bed and wifi were good. Location is right in the center.

We loved everything about our stay: the amenities, the staff, the cuisine was delicious...Honestly,it exceeded our expectations.

This was our third visit to this hotel. Many changes had taken place since our last visit in 2015. We were very pleased with how the hotel has progressed under Mr and Mrs Basson. It has not lost any of it's charm and is even more comfortable than we remember. Service was fantastic, the Charlestons Restaurant excellent for breakfast and dinner and super pool and spa facilities.  'Feathers and Flatcaps' Cocktail Lounge also makes the best 'Dom Pedro' I've had in a long time. We can't wait to return and escape a UK winter!!!!  We only stayed 3 days..... not long enough!!

Drove to Montagu after overnight flight from UK. Stopped just one night but what a great place, we had a massage used the pool & had both dinner & breakfast, all outstanding

The hotel was fine, food excellent, room with air-condition on a bit noisy. For a tall person my sink and shower a bit low, had to bend down. Montagu itself worth a visit, played golf excellent course for where it is. Nut a dried fruit factory worth a visit.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, absolutely brilliant dark swimming pool, a good nights rest. The only downside for us was the dinner on the night we stayed. The food was pretty average and quite expensive. We had the specials so maybe that was a mistake. Other than that, off street parking was good and the rooms was nice and clean and the aircon worked overtime to keep us cool at night. Recommended as a stop off for Montagu or and overnight stay.

olde world hotel - step back into time with romantic dinner , art deco furniture , excellent service, friendly attentive welcoming staff, breakfast and dinner were excellent , fresh croissants and lovely cut up fruit were my favorite at breakfast - dinner had their weeks special oxtail and mash with vegetables - fall off the bone and delicious. wifi was very good and available everywhere . can be noisy until locals have gone to bed as it’s on main road but after 8 pm went quiet. pleasantly surprised at the delicious food at the hotel

Absolutely stunning, great service and if something was wrong, they went out of their way to fix the problem, however small it was. I cannot fault them on anything. What a pleasant stay.

We were family of five , had a relaxing two day stay , breakfast is really everything you need and more ,all staff very friendly ,would def recommend staying there you won’t be disappointed.

We spent four nights at the Montagu Country Hotel, our second stay here. Once again we were in Room 2 on the upper floor of the main auction building, one of the bigger art deco rooms and no two rooms are identical. Lovely room with period art deco furniture although we found the bed just a bit small. The bathroom is spacious with an excellent Large whirlpool bath and small walk in shower and double sinks. By today's standards the shower is a bit dated though. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished with art deco antiques and there is a separate coffee shop as well as the main restaurant Charlestons where we ate one night(separate report). Breakfast is good and the main pool area is spotless with comfortable recliners and plenty of shade. There is also a smaller pool nearer to the outbuildings. Staff were all very friendly. One point to note is that the first floor rooms in the main building can only be accessed by the main staircase so if you have plenty of luggage help from a porter is welcome. We would certainly stay yet again.

My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant one night stay at the Montagu Country Hotel. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with a large shower. We really enjoyed the beautiful garden and swimming pool. We were however disappointed with our dinner. We borh ordered the brisket filled ravioli as starters. My wife ordered the stuffed calamari and I ordered the pork medallions in mustard sauce. We were served one large ravioli.The pasta was tough as it was overcooked. The brisket was tasteless and sinewy and lacked flavour. It was not enjoyable. The calamari was tough and inedible. My wife returned and the dish and was offered a trout setved with lemon risotto. The trout was tasty and beautifully cooked. The risotto,however was undercooked and grainy. I did however, enjoye my pork tenderloin and the mustard dish.which was tender and tasty.
