赤倉明里苑(Akakura Akarien)

A great place to base yourself in Akakura for a snow holiday. The host 'Carlo' fantastic, lighthearted and always good for a laugh. Great team that makes the whole experience enjoyable. Property is very tidy and the food is great. All round a great experience and thoroughly recommend.

A group of 6 of us stayed here for 8 nights in Jan/Feb this year. Carlo the manager was 10/10 - super knowledgeable of the area and resorts, always happy to help and you can also book him to take you out to a resort for the day and show you the good spots. His staff were awesome - always super friendly and the breakfasts they served were great. Thanks Finn, Connor, Coral, Sienna and Darcy! The hotel itself was really nice! Rooms were great, bathrooms were modern, beds were comfy, onsen was a nice way to end the day, and a drying room for your gear was sweet. Location is perfect too - just off the main street of Akakura where all the restaurants are. Would absolutely stay here again!

We stayed at Akakura Akurien for seven nights. In terms of convenience for skiing, hospitality, facilities and value it is highly recommended. Carlo and his team of young staff made us feel very welcome. They are very proactive. For example, on arrival day, a table had been booked for us at a restaurant so we could just walk 5 minutes up the road and be looked after. The in-house bar is a treat and there is a different hot breakfast every day. Skiing is literally a 300m walk to the nearest lift. We opted for a guided tour to Nozawa with Carlo. Non-stop skiing for 4 hours followed by a walk around the historic town was a highlight. There were many other highlights during the week and of course the powder snow!

The workers were lovely and had great customer service. breakfast was deliciously timely. And hotel rooms were spacious. the spare beds made a perfect couch for the family to congregate around. the 3 of us stayed in room 205

Review My partner and I stayed at the Akarien for a week and had a fabulous time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the manager Carlo was able to give great advice as to where to ski in any particular weather. He also offered a paid shuttle service to other resorts and even skied with us, showing us the best runs. This was immensely helpful on powder days. The hotel is well equiped with Japanese style bedding arrangements, shared bathrooms and onsens as well as a bar for evening drinks. The included cooked breakfast was excellent. I recommend this stay when skiing around Myoko.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and fun place to stay check out this lodge. Conveniently located in the village close to restaurants and nightlife and a small stroll to slopes ! Super relaxed vibe and lodge comes with comfortable rooms, flexible bedding and family rooms. All bathrooms which are shared are recently renovated and lodge staff keep the lodge super clean ! Breakfast is amazing and menu is changed daily. The staff are all super fun and friendly. Lodge has its own basement bar which we took over a group and comes with its on onsen ! Carlos lodge owner is super fun and will go out of his way to ensure you will have an awesome experience !

Me and my two boys (22 & 27) stayed here for a week. The location is excellent, being just off the main road and is surrounded by restaurants and bars. It’s also a short 50m or 75m (slightly uphil) walk to two of the Akakura Onsen chairlifts. If needed, Carlo can also organise day trips to other mountain resorts, sightseeing or transfers to the railway station. The staff were very friendly, with shoutouts to Carlo, Grace and Kane for making us feel at home. Every morning we were served a different cooked breakfast, and at night, after skiing, the bar was open from 5:00 to 7:00pm for a beverage before heading out to dinner. As it’s a hostel, it does have shared bathrooms, however we never found this to be problem. The drying room can also be accessed externally which is very helpful after a long day. My boys have said that they would return!

Carlo was an amazing host, he made us feel at home from the moment we got there! Breakfast was incredible, each morning was something different and delicious! Rooms were cosy and the beds were comfortable. The location of the lodge is convenient the resorts and restaurants! Overall amazing lodge, we will definitely be staying again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Akakura Akarien Carlo and the staff were Amazing from start to finish coming up with the best breakfasts and making sure all needs were met for all 7 of us staying there. The rooms and amenities were above expectation aswell. I would reccomend taking a tour with Carlo to one of the great resorts in the area and getting shown the secret runs meaning you can get fresh lines all day a truly priceless experience. Thanks Carlo we will see you again next year.
