The Big House is located in the New River Gorge National Park, the newest national park. There is access to Sandstone Landing's patio alongside the New River. It is a fully furnished home with outdoor seating, a fire pit, and a beautiful view of the river. It is a great starting point for exploring all the beautiful sites and attractions that southern West Virginia and the New River Gorge have to offer.To get to the home, you will go across railroad tracks, we are near the railroad tracks. It is in a small, friendly neighborhood. You can walk to Sandstone General Store and Eatery to get any necessities you may have forgotten for your trip or get a meal.If you plan to fish, there is also a bait and tackle store. Be sure to have a WV fishing license to be able to fish, though. The sandstone boat launch is within walking distance of the house.An extra that we provide our guests is access to the Sandstone Landings patio on the river, this is a shared space with our Sandstone Landings guests. It is just a short walk from the home. The upper level of the patio is equipped with a dining table and chairs. Lower level of patio has outdoor furniture to enjoy the river view or to sit in while you fish in the New River.Please remember to add your pets to your booking if you will be bringing your furry friends with you. Built in 1902 this 3 bedroom 1 bath cozy little gem overlooks the river in a panoramic fashion. It's sits on top of the hill just above the river, on a dead end street, but still only moments from I-64. It's in the perfect location to see any end of the New River Gorge National Park, is hidden in plain sight, and is located just outside the park boundaries. The house is a little crooked but very charming. It has plenty of utensils, cast iron skillets, and spices to cook or grill, best well water around, black out shades, wifi, games, large yard, covered porch overlooking the river, and many more… also new I started to build a trail that leads into the woods behind the property but they aren’t completely done however you may explore around hill behind you and the surrounding fields and don’t forget to look at all the fossils everywhere. You will enjoy waking up and seeing the river before your feet even hit the floor, having your coffee on the porch in the mornings, watching eagles and other birds, deer, and the abundance of other wildlife in our park, also playing and exploring with your family. Pets are welcome and will enjoy lots of space to play. I provide puppy towels and a pooper scooper. The yard is also now fenced in and the large front porch has a gate so your furry friend has options for going outside to lay in the sun. It really is a hidden gem. The cottage has one immediate neighbor that shares river access. The far-end of the property leads in NPS land, which is open to the public for about the next 6 miles. It is all open for you to explore. We have a trail leading down to the rapids down river.Guest accessThe yard is shared with another house (that we own as well). Feel free to use any and all river access and all of the fire-pits on property (3 total). Down-river is all NPS land and is open to the public, we have a trail extending to the falls below, and beyond. Thanks, enjoy!Other things to noteThe cottage is located next to a railroad track. Feel free to use the fire pit between the two houses and any of the river access from the fence down. Down river, there is a private trail that leads to a fire pit and rock beach. Beyond that is national park and preserve and is yours to access. To observe federal law, and keep the natural beauty, the banks of the river are uncut and all-natural.
