I rarely leave reviews, but this experience at the Hampton Inn Newark Airport was so unacceptable that I feel obligated to warn others. During my stay, I discovered a roach in my room around 12:30 a.m. Let that sink in. In a Hilton-branded property, at that hour, when all you want is rest. This was not a minor inconvenience—this is a serious cleanliness and health concern. What made matters worse was how poorly the situation was handled. After reporting the issue, I was left waiting for approximately 25 minutes with no clear communication on what was being done. Eventually, I was told I needed to change rooms—at 1:30 in the morning. No urgency, no real sense of care, just inconvenience on top of an already disturbing situation. As a longtime Hilton Honors member, I have stayed at many Hilton properties and have never experienced anything like this. This was far below the standard that Hilton claims to uphold. Even more disappointing is what happened after. I was told that the front desk manager would follow up within 24–48 hours. That call never came. No acknowledgment. No accountability. No effort to make this right. This is what truly turned a bad experience into a terrible one—complete lack of follow-through and customer care. I have photos and video documenting the condition of the room, so this is not an exaggeration or misunderstanding. This is exactly what happened. If you are considering staying here, I strongly advise you to reconsider. Cleanliness, responsiveness, and basic customer service should be non-negotiable—yet this property failed on all three. I expected better. You should too.
