Yes, depending which was you look at it, many of the ‘negative’ reviews here are true. Yes, the drive onto site isn’t for the faint hearted, and can feel scary but take it slowly and you’ll be fine. Prepare for spectacular views and gorgeous dark skies from your pitch. Yes, it’s noisy when it’s windy, but it’s camping, it’s a part of the adventure. Yes, the on site restaurant may or may not be open, but you’re only a stroll away from Las Negras (there’s a lovely Ice Cream place serving great coffee over that way) if you’re desperate to eat out. Yes, the shop opens and closes before the day has started, but be prepared, order your fresh bread and pastries the evening before and nip to the shop before lunch to pick up any essential items you need. The prices are far from expensive and you’ll find everything you might need. We stayed in a Family+ tent. It was more than spacious enough for our family of 4 and everything that comes with us - suitcases, shopping etc. The beds were unbelievably comfortable and the accommodation well equipped with all of your glamping essentials. Including a coffee machine. Hot water and powerful showers in a good sized bathroom and space outside to enjoy balmy evenings under the dark skies. The staff speak very basic English, so using some basic Spanish in return will get you far. We asked our time here, as seasoned ‘campers’ and travellers, who do enjoy the finer things when it comes to accommodation, we were not disappointed. The site was spotless and felt safe, and the facilities clean - including the pools. A short stroll through the site lands you on a gorgeous beach that offers great views and snorkelling (rock shoes recommended). There’s Boules, a small play park and volley ball on site, too. Laundry facilities are available - but at a €4 fee. Bring change! We would return to Wecamp Cabo de Gata and are already exploring other Wecamp locations.
