Dreadful attitude from the general manager. We have stayed there a month ago and found the room, food and service excellent. As a result of eating there, I was sent a coaching inn email, saying that I could have a free main course and starter for my birthday which is today. However, I only discovered this email in my junk folder yesterday. So I called in to explain that I had no photo ID as we arrived in Norfolk on Wednesday and had only seen the email at the last minute. The manager was difficult and argumentative, stating that we were not allowed to come according to the rules and I needed to understand that! Eventually he said we could eat there tonight but I was too shocked by his attitude to eat there on my birthday. So we cancelled and cancelled another booking at the end of May. We had planned to stay there in June with friends but we’re going to the Blakeney hotel instead where we have always had excellent service. Also, the food and service at the Moorings tonight was brilliant. It’s fortunate that there are so many good restaurants in the area although the Pheasant is giving out the message that it does not need to attract customers.
