カバレガ ウィルダネス ロッジ(Kabalega Wilderness Lodge)

We moved to this resort "last minute" after not being satisfied by the one we've been previously assigned. We made the best decision as the two nights we spent here have been magic. The lodge is fully built in wood, with reception and restaurant overlooking the Nile and located in Murchinson Falls park. The rooms were extremely spacious, with a big patio, all built in wonderful dark wood. After dark guests were asked to be escorted in their move from/to their cottages as hyppos were wandering around in search of food. We spent a full wonderful day relaxing in the main space, with good food and extremely gentle staff. We were surrounded by the noises of the hyppos and, at night, by frogs. Last night the staff gently light a campfire for us. Again a magic experience. We really recommend this place as a basis to visit Murchinson Falls park and Nile river.

The setting of this lodge is truly wonderful, the restaurant with its big porch right above the nile river. I was tempted to give maybe five stars, but the absolute lack of light in the otherwise beautiful cabins makes staying there a bit cumbersome. Don’t hurt yourself when trying to shave! 😉 Wifi is poor, don’t rely on it. The food was ok, the staff very very friendly.

I really enjoyed the hippos grazing at night. The staff also built us a bonfire the first night we were there and we were able to eat around it. The biggest problem was they said we were not expected ( even though my name was clearly on their guest list) and that they did not know we had a 6 year old with us. They were very confused at first and did not know how to handle the situation. One man was very unfriendly.

Very nice location on the Nile. Staff were efficient and friendly, and the food was always excellent. However the rooms were in a shoddy state. I did not have high expectations, but compared to the other wilderness lodges I stayed at during my time in in Uganda, the rooms were by far the worst. The rooms are all solar powered, which is great but their extremely limited battery capacity means they have nowhere to plug in electronics (besides a low amp USB port) so I was not able to plug in my sleep apnoea machine at night or charge any electronics in the room. The low altitude on the equator also meant temperatures at night are quite uncomfortable with no fans to help cool off. All doors don’t latch, and the main door has only a small bar lock to keep it closed. Many other small things are also in a state of disrepair in cabin 1 (closest to the main building). For example the soap holder in the bathroom fell out of the wall on its first use, and was never repaired in my stay, and the floorboards were very uneven and rotting from below. If you are willing to stay in an uncomfortable and disrepaired room, then it was otherwise a good stay.

We stayed here 2 weeks ago , our first 2 nights in Uganda of a 9 day trip. Attention & service from the staff was fantastic they were so helpful and attentive and happy to see us. The resort runs on solar so lights are a bit low but not an issue as staff take you to & from your room in case hippos are roaming !! we heard them feeding outside our door during the night. Beds Showers and rooms all good with no complaints , the service in the restaurant & bar were excellent with lovely food including veggie options if required. Small bar selection but sufficient. Great place to base yourself if visiting Murchison Falls & Park Game drives. Gerard Dublin Ireland

Un endroit agréable au bord de l’eau et dans la réserve (droit d’entrée à acquitter) Personnel agréable et nourriture très correcte. Bungalows anciens, propreté limite surtout des matelas, électricité sur batterie et wifi uniquement à la réception. Hippopotame broutant devant la terrasse la nuit ! Dépaysant et convivial.
