マッセリア モンジョ デッレファンテ(Masseria Mongio Dell'Elefante)

On arrival we immediately felt welcomed. The staff is really nice, friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and had dinner at the masseria on 2 evenings which was really great. We loved the food and the menue was really special. Room and pool area are just amazing. A plus were the bikes we could lend to drive to Otranto. Really convenient and fun. Would definitely recommend!

Just got back from a 2nd stay at the Masseria Mongio. We were there earlier in the year in April and it was so good we came back. In addition to a morning dip in the sea at the Baia dei Turchi, a 5 minute walk away, & then an afternoon dip in the pool back at the Masseria, we did manage to tear ourselves away one day to see the Torre Sant’Emiliano again. As before, Ivan and his Team, Salvatore, Francesca, Maria, Giovanni, Fabrizio, Vincenzo to name but a few, made the trip just wonderful.

This is a hotel of contradictions. Some parts are really very good and a few parts not so good. Pros: The pool is beautiful and the attendant is a very friendly, helpful and warm person. There are lots of umbrellas and sunbeds. The breakfast is delicious, varied and the ladies serving are lovely. The proximity to the beach is just wonderful - you can walk down for an early morning swim before breakfast. The kitchen in our suite was really useful. The rooms are well kitted out, the drying racks are really useful and the kids loved having Sky. The bikes are very useful. Cons: The outside dinning room is soulless - lots of plants or something colourful would have made it more welcoming. The evening menu is very sophisticated which is interesting but not so helpful with kids. Not many residents were eating in the hotel in the evenings, possibly due to the food or the lack of atmosphere. We never did work out the aircon even though it was really hot - there aren't any instructions for it that we found in the room. The safe in the room was broken. The toilet in the main suite is too high. I'm average height and my toes hardly touched the ground. It sounds stupid but after 4 days, I was fed up with it. Actually this was probably the most annoying thing of the stay. Some of the staff are really lovely as mentioned above but I felt one of the receptionists thought that my questions were irritating so I ended up not wanting to go and ask him questions.

Just arrived home from a long stay here. What can I say - there are so many things right with this Masseria I.E. the food is great, the pool area is lovely, all of the staff are so friendly, the rooms are lovely and clean and have everything you need; HOWEVER, we stayed in a number of hotels around Puglia before arriving here and the key thing for us (which a previous review summed up much better than I am here) is that this place is not worth the price. We stayed at places that were much nicer than here across Puglia for a third of the price. For €150-200 a night, it’s fair (€200 is a push given that it’s only breakfast included, but I’m being kind) but it was certainly not worth the €320 we spent a night - for that you expect luxury and to be honest it wasn’t much better than the €100 a night place we had just come from. Sorry but need to be honest! Hope this helps.

Fantastic place. Amazing pool, the beach is so close (3-5 mins walk) and is one of the best in southern Italy. Rooms great, food good, good place for families. And just down the road from lovely Otranto. We will be returning.

Amazing service from the moment we arrived. Nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are extremely pristine and the atmosphere one of serenity. Breakfast is varied and plentiful. We stayed 3 nights and had dinner 2 of them. We had only planned to have dinner one evening but the food is so good that we changed our plans. The beach, which is 5 mins walk, is stunning. We were also given a voucher for free sunbeds at a nearby lido, which was much quieter and had a nice beach bar for drinks / lunch. The only downside for us is that it is very quiet there and once you have eaten dinner there is nothing to do. It would have been nice to have a seating area for after dinner drinks, maybe playing some soft jazz and to be able to mingle with other guests. To have this would have bee the icing on the cake for us. Thank you to Ivan and the team for looking after us so well and to Luigi for the MOST AMAZING massage.

We spent 3 days in this really lovely place and we would have stayed more but it was all fully booked. The location is great, the rooms are super nice and fresh (no need to put the air conditioning on), the staff is lovely and very helpful and the atmosphere is very laid back. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and dinner and lunch too. We will definitively come back. Thank you again to everyone at Masseria Mongio dell'Elefante.

The Masseria Mongio is a great place to spend some relaxed days. The perfect location close to Otranto and only 5 walking minutes to the beautiful beach is the best surrounding for a relaxing vacation. The masseria offers a beautiful pool and very nice rooms. The staff is incredibly polite and welcoming which rounds the stay up. The breakfast offers all specialties of the area and the dinner is high quality food for a very low price.

We had such a lovely stay. The staff is very efficient and nice. The breakfast was very good. The room super clean. And the place is incredible. We were traveling with our 20 months old and it was perfect !
