デフカリオン(Hotel Defkalion)

We had an amazing holiday @Defkalion: new and super clean apartments with great beds, super facilities like a swimming pool and gym, tasty breakfast and the love of the sweet owners mama Toula & son Steven. I loved the fact that they were really aware of customers needs (extra strollers for example). The only disadvantage with kids was the distance to center..it is 1.6 km. Not too far, but quite a challenge for the kids especially at the end of a tiring beach day. But definitely worth looking at all we got! If we will go again to Lesbos we will definitely visit the family again! We never felt so much home in a hotel/apartment complex.

Initially I was a bit worried staying here without a car but it ended up not being a problem. There is a local bus that goes by roughly hourly, and the walk to/from town is an easy 20-minute stroll (if you avoid the middle of a summer’s day!). In the evening, there were many couples heading back to hotels in the same direction so it never felt unsafe. A footpath would be nice, though! The hotel is *lovely*. Everything is new and the rooms have been very well thought out. There are handy power points, a Nespresso machine, a good set of cookware, a full set of dinnerware, and an ultra modern shower that seems straight from Japan. Beds have duvets (rare for Greece!) and little things like having a clothes drying rack along with an iron and ironing board do make a difference for a longer-term stay. Rooms to the back, away from the road, will have a better view but I didn’t really want to sit outside because the inside is just so nice! Noise was not an issue due to soundproof windows and sliding doors. Shout out also to Real Lesvos who recommended the hotel to me. Thank you!!

Clean, modern, cozy rooms, an excellent breakfast (highlight the homemade jams) and a lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi. Positioned in between, and near, the beaches of Anaxos and Petra. Will come again.

COMFIEST BEDS ANYWHERE IN GREECE!! We loved our stay at Defkalion, the owner Toula is a wonderful host who treated everyone like family. She was clearly proud of the hotel which is newly renovated with brand new room facilities (kitchenette, utensils, bathroom/shower, furniture etc). She loved sharing the fresh apricots from the tree in the hotel with us. Delicious! She also hosted a cooking class which was great fun. The highlight however, were the beds - quality mattresses and pillows, crisp bed linen, and just amazing amazing comfort. We have always found beds in Greece rock hard and end up aching all over. But here we didn’t want to get out of bed in the mornings! More comfortable than our bed at home!! The pool was clean, had water jet/jacuzzi functions, but we really missed a pool cafe as an amenity. You could get drinks, but no food/snacks. You could of course use your room facilities, but as there isn’t a shop within close walking distance you have to make sure you stock up and for that you need a car, as carrying bags of groceries from Petra town would be a hard slog. We do feel you need transport for this hotel, we hired a scooter as weren’t planning on travelling too far this holiday. We did walk to Petra on the first day, but we think it’s too far for a relaxed holiday with the heat and slight hill (we are fit 40 year olds). You can however walk to a couple of seafront restaurants (Avlaki & Caravan). We would recommend this hotel. Thanks Toula! x

We rented 5 studios for a month at Defkalion as part of our accommodation for a group of remote workers and had the best possible experience. The hotel is brand new and everything is built out with attention to detail and great quality. The owner - Steve, is one of the nicest people I have ever made and I can only say the best about him. He was always there for us and responded to all our requests and went an extra mile for us on several occasions. We also did cooking classes with his mother Toula and those were amazing experiences for our group. The hotel is very well located between Anaxos and Petra and studios are equipped with kitchenettes, desks, private bathrooms, great beds, and balconies. The pool, the jacuzzi, and the gym were also amazing and they even have a nice outdoor barbeque area and rooftop terrace for amazing sunsets. I hope I can come back sometime and I will recommend Defkalion to anyone going to Lesvos and the area of Petra either for short or longer stays.

This hotel was a serious Gem. Steve and his family who run it are incredibly kind and accommodating. Everything is brand new, super modern and luxurious. It feels like a 4 star hotel in Los Angeles that just happens to be in Lesvos, Greece. Each morning, you go to the breakfast area and a Greek grandma comes out and asks you what you want her to make personally for you. The shower heads have 5 different concurrent heads. The pool area is stunning. And this is all 10 minutes walking from the "downtown" area of Petra. The ONLY complaint I can make is that the wifi was not the fastest, but it certain does the job. I highly recommend this hotel.

Grote ruime kamers, een tof zwembad en jacuzzi. Zeer goede matrassen, heb er zeer goed geslapen behalve door het verkeer. Zeer mooi complex tussen Petra en Anaxos (net midden in). Rustig weg van het centrum toch wel wat lawaai van de hoofdweg. Goed voorzien van strijkijzer, wasrek op het terras, toffe keuken. Ontbijt was very basic, dit kan zijn doordat de gastvrouw niet aanwezig was. Een beetje een ongelukkig timing wegens familiale omstandigheden van de eigenares. Voor de rest was het personeel zeer vriendelijk. Foto's heb ik niet genomen van het hotel omdat alles exact zo is als op hun site of andere booking sites.

Rustige ligging, alles op loopafstand. Heerlijke kamer met fantastische bedden. Topontbijt. De yacuzzi bij het zwembad is elke dag weer een feestje. Eigenaresse Toula en haar team staan altijd voor je klaar. Dit was de 1e keer Lesbos voor ons, maar wij gaan zeker terug naar Defkalion.
