Such a lovely stay at Casa do Cativo. Margarida is a wonderful host and is a great source for Porto information! Our balcony had fantastic views of the city as did the beautiful common room. Casa’s location is convenient to restaurants and sites. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Don't be deceived by the outside, it may seem dodgy. But the hotel is beautiful. Huge rooms, clean and tidy. Big bed and bathrooms. Staff are very accommodating. I loved coming back to the spacious room after a day of sightseeing. There is even space to lounge in the room. Breakfast was included, and I especially enjoyed the fresh orange juice. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Casa do Cativo for 3 nights and had the most loveliest time. The room was spacious, with a very comfy bed. We particularly loved the breakfast and most of all, Margarida and the team who work really hard to make sure you have the best stay. Casa Cativo is in the perfect location for exploring Porto and also far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you're looking for a bit of home from home comfort in a great part of the city, then this is it. Thoroughly enjoyed it all! Thank you!

This is an amazing what I would call an apart hotel in central Porto. We stayed with another couple in a great apartment which had a shared lounge and kitchen. Breakfast every morning was amazing - a platter of cheeses , fruit , pastries and more on offer for each table. We didn’t use the pool but our friends did every day for the 3 nights we stayed . Access arrangements were easy and overall it was a great location only 5 mins from Sao Bento station and the Cathedral. Would I recommend - YES

I agree with fellow reviewers. This place is amazing. The room was spacious to a degree. I hadn't anticipated. There were beautiful views from front and back. Everything was finished at a level that was above and beyond. The neighborhood was very close to the major sites. The owner was particularly helpful. It was great and if I ever go back to Porto there's nowhere else that I would look. The breakfast was a pleasure. The only minor quibble is that when you get to the address, it doesn't look like a hotel or guest house, but the name of the casa is clearly on the buzzer.

We stayed in the room at the top of the building, there is a private terrace and a kitchen and living room across the hallway with the most beautiful view. The staff went above and beyond and the whole place was beautiful. Comfy bed and spotless clean! The breakfast is also great. Good value for money!

We had an absolutely lovely 3 night stay at Casa do Cativo. The hotel, including all rooms, are beautifully decorated -- you can tell a lot of thought and care went into the design of all parts of the hotel. The location was perfect -- we walked to all parts of Porto from this central location. Our room had a great view of the City. The morning breakfasts in their common area were great. This is definitely a very laid back hotel. If you're looking for someone to give you lots of recommendations and shape your experience in Porto, I wouldn't say this is the hotel for you, as we saw no staff after our check in. But that really worked for us, and would highly recommend!

We stayed for 3 nights in the apartment of Casa do Cativo. It was absolutely amazing! The owners have so much taste in decoration. The staff is really friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. I can't say one bad thing about this place. We will definately stay here again when we visit Porto a next time and we will recommend the casa to all our friends and family.

Tricky review. Not a good neighbourhood. Despite the lovely interior and attention to detail, the location is not ideal and I felt unsafe going to and from the accommodation. I would not stay at this location again unfortunately and was not the right choice for me. Would not recommend at all for solo travellers.
