We've been curious to try this hotel for quite a while and we weren't disappointed at all. One of the first of its kind on the island, it is quite retro, but in a very pleasant way. Indeed, it must've been quite ahead of its time when it was first built fifty years ago, and it has clearly stood the test of time. The room that we stayed in was absolutely fine. It was always kept clean and the interior was, in my opinion, to a very good standard when compared to others. We stayed half board and the food was plentiful and very good quality with plenty of choice and veg. You are even given the option to swap dinner for lunch. Yes, it is a big hotel, but very spacious inside with superb views. The hotel grounds are large and provide nice areas to wander around. There is also direct access to the beach, which leads onto the superb beach of Los Pocillos. The two main swimming pools, which are salt water, are a fairly decent size and very clean. The bottom pool is just short of 25m in length, which is great if you like to do a bit of swimming. There is also a baby pool if required. We had no problems at all and the staff was courteous and helpful. Yes, this hotel is very popular with the older generation, but that certainly doesn't mean you won't find younger people with children and teenagers staying there either. It really is a nice place to stay and in a very good position. Previously, we have stayed in a brand new five star hotel not too far up the beach and to be honest, I think the San Antonio is better.
