The hotel is very nice with beautiful rooms and the garden is like a dream with spectacular views from the infinity pool. You never feel squeezed as the elegant lounge chairs are spread over a huge area far away from each other. Yet there is a real problem. The thermal spa water contains primarily sulphur giving it the well-known smell of rotten eggs which outside, on the premises of the hotel, is not a big problem as the fresh air will annul most of the stench. The immense problem is the missing door between the indoor pool (also fed by the same water) and the hotel; only a small sliding door, normally open all the time, separates the pool area from the hallways of the hotel thus enabling the sickening smell to creep up through the corridors into the lobby area and the rooms. During the night the stench becomes so intense and sickening that it is hardly bearable. As a matter of fact this problem could be solved easily by inserting an airlock between the pool area and the hotel corridor. For an hotel of this category it should be not too much of an effort.

We have come to San Giovanni Terme for 5 or 6 years and always love the experience. The grounds are maintained impeccably, the pools are splendid; just warm enough, with the wonderful white calce that squishes through your toes when walking in the water. The dining room is elegant and the food is exquisite. As much as we would like to keep this our own secret place, if you should be in this area, or want to make a special trip, we can't recommend San Giovanni enough.

What a fabulous place! Wonderfully warm water, lovely massage and so unusual. We’ll be back! Tip: our 14 year old daughters wanted massages, but didn’t fancy the teenage “milk massage”. When we phoned up, they arranged for couples massages, so firstly there was a better choice, and also each one could go with a parent each. Much appreciated.

Absolutely exceptional resort. The staff was incredible, the meals were delicious, the wine recommendations were superb. The thermal spa was so relaxing and helped my muscles tremendously. They provided a shuttle service for us and were amazing with their knowledge of the area and help with getting around

What a beautiful place! Stayed for 2 days and just chilled in the sunshine. The hot thermal pools are pretty amazing. Thank you for arranging our overnight stay. Staff were most helpful, even supplied our toothbrushes and a phone charger!
