ホステル ポッド ヴォロゴム(Hostel Pod Voglom)

I mean firstly, it is a hostel so do not expect the same quality as a hotel. The staff at check in were nice and there is free parking offered. It also has a good location. However, the triple room was rather small, but we did have a private bathroom too. One of the beds was VERY squeaky which was a bit disturbing in the nice as any movement caused a large noise. Also, breakfast was very average with not a huge selection offered.

It is a very dated but well-run hostel. It was clean enough but generally very old buildings. It has the clear distinction of being about 20 meters from the lake with incredible views from the balcony and cafeteria. That makes it worth the price. You wont be wowed by the decor but the service is great and the location is unbeatable.

The staff is just amazing, always smiling and ready to help. The location is superb as the lake is just literally a few meters away. Love the atmosphere there. In the evenings they have live music on Tuesdays, bunch of adventure activities going on all the time. And very important for us, they allow and love dogs, which is awesome.

The hostel is built right on the water, about equidistant from the two villages, Ribčev Laz and Ukanc, that lie at either end of the lake Bohinj. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the scenery and some hiking. The staff were very friendly and a number of them spoke English. The hostel complex was slightly faded but there had obviously been a lot of effort put in to keep everything nice and in working order. Our room was comfortable enough, decorated in what we first thought was a slightly strange manner - it turned out to be a result of a children's drawing contest! We had a small balcony and our room looked directly across the country road to the lake. It was almost eerily quiet at night.

As someone else wrote, mixed feelings. The good first - definitely the location, and the friendly, helpful staff. The ok - breakfast. Others have written negatively on the breakfast provided, but I can't really understand why. Yes, the coffee is not great, but there's espresso (etc.) offered for a very reasonable price. And it's the only place we stayed that offered anything else than plain white bread! However, as mentioned by another guest, margarine doesn't quite cut it - butter would be preferable. Nonetheless, there's 3 different pates, something akin to ground pork, cold cuts, sliced cheese, hummus (perhaps on request, as i did?), jams, chocolate spread, orange juice, teas, modest fresh fruit offerings, granola, and vegan milk as well as the "real" stuff. In the "ok" category: the double room with ensuite bathroom. A bit small, but functional, and for soft beds I was surprised that I felt cocooned and comfortable (over 5 nights). There's also a large lounge area and a separate room with a half-size billiard table and fussball - but the balls for billiards are mixed sets and there's no white ball. In the not so good, keep in mind that if you visit in winter, there's only skiing and hiking - no watercraft or bicycles are available to rent. And that applies to everywhere around the lake, apparently, which is definitely strange... The hostel lies a 2 km (or maybe a little less) from several restaurants around the east end of the lake, which are well worth eating at if you have the €€ - the hostel sometimes offers lunch and/or dinner if it has a large group, but at €15 it may be worth exploring further afield. When you check in (in winter, anyway) you will receive a free bus pass for the local area, including to Vogel ski centre.

The pod was super nice, right on the water, there is a very convenient shovel but zooms up and down the lake to help transport you it’s free transportation :-) wonderful wonderful wonderful A+

Excelente hostel às margens do belíssimo lago Bohinj no parque nacional Triglav na Eslovênia. O hostel fica no meio do lago, um pouco afastado da vila de Ribcev Laz. O ônibus que vem de Ljubljana tem um ponto em frente ao hostel. Há uma lanchonete e um restaurante na parte de baixo do hostel. Os banheiros coletivos, poucos considerando o número de quartos, ficam na ponta do corredor e é bem limpo. O quarto que fiquei era para 4 pessoas, com armários, tomada e luminária individual na cama, além de uma pia. O colchão era bom, e a roupa de cama limpa. Os funcionários da recepção eram muito atenciosos. É possível alugar canoa ou kayak no hostel.
