Absolutely loved my stay at CabanaCopa Hostel. The location is excellent, a five minute walk to many bars, restaurants, stores, and Copocabana Beach. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and the social atmosphere of the hostel was the best part of my trip to Rio. The rooms are small but for such a price, it's impossible to complain. I would recommend to any backpacker.

I could not sit anywhere without cigarette smoke blowing in my face. all of my clothes smelled like smoke the entire time. one day it was raining and most guests stayed indoors. I tried to hang out on the roof top and the porch on first floor, but the smoke was unbearable. I stayed in my room most of the day. my partner developed a cough and very dry eyes from smoke irritation. it was so bad we searched for new accommodation. while the hostel staff cannot control behavior this review is a warning for non smokers and those with asthma. also people slamming doors, playing terrible music late into the night and yelling at midnight. mattress was stained yellow and room smelled like mildew. everything looked and felt dirty. if you are 18 and chain smoke then this hostel is perfect for you. staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for a bit and one employee in particular went above and beyond and through a window for us. We just want to thank Werner for his help this week, he was fantastic and helped us in a time of need. The place itself is fine, all employees are very friendly

Great for remote work, comfortable rooms with air conditioner, super friendly staff, and safe location. You will make a lot of friends for sure, and there are many travelers who stay for long and volunteer. You can work remotely in the living room with many tables or on the rooftop with more sunlight. And you can go around easily with the subway nearby and this street even has a security guard.

I received a very warm welcome in the middle of the night after a long journey from the UK. Staff very helpful, great atmosphere in the bar and lovely rooftop terrace. I loved that it is basically on the edge of the jungle with birds and monkeys visiting. Will stay there again when in Rio.
