We booked the Lodge through MrandMrsSmith which is normally a reliable endorsement of a property and experience. Overall the Lodge is missing some of the basics and falls way short of the claimed 5 star experience. This maybe because it had just opened however some things can never be improved such as the closeness to the motorway. We were disappointed of paying for a ‘pool deluxe suite’, described as spacious with your own private terrace which in fact is a room and pretty crammed with furniture (the photos on the site are clearly taken with a very wide angle lens) and definitely not a private terrace as can see into next rooms terrace. Note, the pool for these rooms is tiny and is not directly accessible. The room is also marketed as further away from the main lodge which means it is in fact nearer to the motorway. It is near impossible to sit on the ‘private terrace’ in the evening as the motorway sound travels faster at night. The staff are friendly attentive and responded immediately to some problems we had with the room and tv. Breakfast is average for a 5 star restaurant and one morning we waited 30 minutes for the buffet to be replenished and even then there was little selection. The interiors are lovely and the main lodge is beautifully restored with rustic chic furnishings. Shame there is no bar to enjoy although there is seating between the reception and restaurant on which to enjoy a cocktail and they were happy to mix a cocktail not on the menu. The main pool area is divine with far reaching stunning views although there is no pool service and if you want a drink other than the complimentary coke, non alcohol beer or water you have to walk to the main lodge. On doing so and ordering some cocktails the staff told us we had to wait and the ‘protocol’ was they are not allowed to carry the drinks to the pool. This was very confusing as we saw other staff carry drinks to other guests by the pool. In fact 5 mins later another couple had their drinks delivered. The service is very inconsistent. The pool area can also get messy as used towels are left behind on sunbeds and used drinks bottles etc, interrupting the ambience. There is no dedicated pool staff. I mention these as at the price point, these are what I would describe as the basics for a 5star experience. Despite the closeness to the motorway and once you get used to the constant traffic flow noise the hotel has a relaxing ambiance, however you just cannot escape the motorway sound. Every so often it reminds you of it presence interrupting the experience. In summary, the marketing, descriptions and photos of the property are inflated and misleading and does not deserve the price point. Would we come back, that’s a no, but we will be back to Mallorca, a beautiful island that captures you. Shame the Lodge didn’t do that.
