If you like small characterful French hotels as much as I do, then Hôtel de la Place is the place for you. Located perfectly in the Center of St Jean d’Angely you will find convenient and free parking directly across from the hotel in the main square. Our room was spacious, spotless and provided everything we needed and more. We had a most delicious dinner and breakfast the following morning in the wonderful restaurant downstairs. The restaurant offers a great selection of dishes, beautifully cooked and each greatlly appreciated. We also appreciated the lovely welcome and careful attention from Paschal. Merci à tout l’éaipe :)

The room was good value, we were happy with it. The reasons for the score of five are the excellent restaurant and the friendly owner who is fluent in english. He was able to fully explain the courses to us. When asked, he also suggested a local (Charentes) merlot, which was delightful. A minor drawback was that the wifi was not strong in our room, I had to step into the hallway to send an email.

Hôtel propre et sympa. La restauration est excellente et le verre de vin choisi par le tenancier était extraordinaire et bon marché. Bravo. J’y retournerai sûrement . Le choix du repas du jour avec poisson et café gourmand est une valeur sûre. La cuisson du poisson montrait clairement le professionnalisme du cuisinier. Je n’ai rien à dire sur le service aux petits oignons. Le poisson était frais et je ne connaissais pas l’espèce proposée. Un détour de choix dans cette ville médiévale inattendue.

Choix sur ardoise avec des produits de saison Agréable surprise avec un excellent mise en bouche même dans le menu du jour Cuisine raffinée, avec un dressage très élégant .
