私たちはこのホテルに5月のローシーズンに7泊しました。到着したのは午後8時で、受付はすでに閉まっていましたが、電話番号の看板があり、数分以内にサポートが到着しました。Googleマップではこの場所の住所が少し間違っていることに注意してください。道順に従ったところ、数本先の道路に行き着きました。暗闇の中で三点ターンをしなければならず、後輪が溝に入っていました。翌朝、マネージャーが数人の親切な男性と一緒に私たちを連れ戻してくれました。彼らは問題なく車を持ち上げてくれました。素晴らしいサポートでした！私たちは毎朝朝食をとることにしました。1人あたり15.50ユーロと高額に思えるかもしれませんが、その料金に見合うのは、プールを見下ろす美しい環境で無制限に朝食をとることです。ちなみに、このホテルはデス・イン・パラダイスのエピソードの1つの舞台になりました。朝食はビュッフェスタイルで、フルーツ、ヨーグルト、チーズ、ハム、ペストリー、ロールパン、シリアル、注文に応じて調理された*がありました。人がほとんどいない日は、朝食をテーブルまで直接届けてもらえます。私たちが滞在していたとき、レストランは閉まっていましたが、隣にある基本食料品店（ガソリンスタンドのそば）で軽食を調達し、その後、サン・ローズ方面に2軒の大きなスーパーマーケット（E Leclerc と Carrefour）を見つけました。2軒のうち、私たちはCarrefourのほうが好きで、ビーチ用の安いタオルも買うことができました。私たちの側のアパートメントはすべて新しく改装されていて、美しく整えられていました。メインルームにはエアコンがあり、ぐっすり眠れます。バスルームはウォークインシャワーがあり、贅沢な感じです。テラスには小さなキッチンコーナーがあり、冷蔵庫、電子レンジ、2口のセラミックコンロがあります。2人で料理をするのに十分な設備がありました。ただし、50%のDEETがあっても蚊が問題でしたが、今のところ大きな影響はありません。このホテルは絶対にお勧めです。レンタカーを借りれば、車で1時間以内で探索できる観光スポットがたくさんあります。

This hotel is fabulous. It is made up of individual studio apartments comprising of bedroom, decent sized bathroom with large powerful shower. They also each have a little covered patio area with a hob, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. We stayed in superior studio number 5, which was just up the slope from reception. There are some apartments further up the hill which I suspect had a sea view but we had lovely trees and plants around us so there was plenty to look at and listen to. As others have said, some of the walkways are really steep (as is lots of Basse-Terre) so it might be worth mentioning when booking if you have mobility issues. There is WiFi throughout the hotel and in your room. The air conditioning and fan a god send! We were booked on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast had everything you wanted, hot or cold, delicious fruit juices and fresh fruit every day. There are fresh mangoes everywhere! We booked a table and ate at the restaurant a couple of times. Fairly reasonable though I did struggle with vegetarian options - there was really only one. I found this in a lot of the restaurants in Deshaies actually, which was a little disappointing and repetitive. We didn’t use the pool, but it was meticulously cleaned every morning before opening. The gardens are fabulous and again maintained very well. We saw lots of lizards, humming birds, and the cats! I’m a cat lover so it was wonderful watching the kittens playing. They do all like to beg and you are discouraged from feeding them. Grande-Anse beach is a few minutes walk away. It is quite a steep shelf so on some days there was quite a wave for playing in - just something to be wary of if you have smaller children or not a strong swimmer. Most of the time it was flat calm. There are a couple of restaurants there. There was also a little takeaway booth next to Les Hibiscus that served bokits and fries and chicken, which was handy if you just wanted a snack. Most of these were closed in the evenings. We hired a car and travelled quite a lot of both sides of the island. I would recommend this. We visited Plage de la Perle beach (where the inspector’s shack is, if you are a Death in Paradise fan) and preferred this somewhat to Grande Anse. There were a few more restaurants open, and it was less crowded so more shade! The weather was very hot and quite humid at times with a couple of really heavy downpours. This in turn brought the mosquitoes out, and my husband and I were bitten quite badly, even with the bracelets and spray! We noticed lots of others nursing nasty bites too! Possibly the time of year. Take your plug ins if you have them! We didn’t and I regretted it. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Helped to have a little French but their English was very good. They helped with our car hire and booking a boat trip. There is a young chap, unfortunately I didn’t get his name, whose English is very good - far better than my French. Our room was higher in the hill so we had a nice wiew from the balcony. We liked staying in this hotel and the room was clean when we arrived. However the room wasn't cleaned once we stayed there (4 nights). The floors were then a bit sandy later in the days. Not even handtowel was changed once and even the kitchen garbage wasn't emptied once. That was pretty much the only negative about the toom. The hotel restaurant was excellent for dinner.

Excellent stay at HGA. The location is excellent, just across the road and up the hill from Grand Anse Beach (less than 10 minute walk). Our room was immaculate, the restaurant for daily breakfast was very good, and the grounds and pool and all facilities were beautifully maintained. Hope to visit again.

Beautifully well kept and just like the pictures. The staff although mostly French are superb and do their best to understand and assist you. Many speak Emglish & willtranslate their menu. Something that is rare in Guadaloupe. Beds changed every 4 days. The staff are consistantly clearing cleaning and tidying to keep the grpunds immaculate. The walk to yhe beach is 5 minutes and their are frequent buses into Deshaises. If u want unspoilt Caribean this is the place to go. Shout out too to Virgini & Suzanne running the restaurant like clockwork. Suzanne we shall be looking for u on telly & Virgini if u get to Manchester. Drop us an email.

We had a lovely week here over Easter. The grounds are beautiful, although quite steep - we were quite glad that we weren't at the top of the hill! The staff were very friendly. The pool was a little on the cool side, We made friends with a cat that lived on site. It's only a 5 minute walk to the beach.

We stayed at HGA for two weeks in a second floor suite with an outdoor kitchen on the terrace. Everything was as advertised in a very beautiful setting. Staff were extremely friendly: reception, cleaning staff, and gardeners. All friendly and eager to help. The pool is probably the cleanest we have ever been to, this can also be said of the rooms, which were well appointed and comfortable. The air-conditioning was efficient and quiet, kept us cool on some very hot nights. Grounds are well kept and there was constant work being done to maintain them. The kitchen had everything we needed for a simple meal, which was nice after a day of being out, we just wanted to dine in on the deck. We are Death in Paradise fans and we were lucky to bump into a scene being filmed and had our picture taken with the lead actor. Short walk to the beach and to a gas station/store that had most needs. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this establishment.
