ホテル ソンブラ デル アグア(Sombra del Agua)

The lobby area and patio was nice visibly, but their restaurant food wasn’t good. I stayed 4 nights and they never had Mexican bread (pan dulce) to accompany your coffee. I and my husband got really sick with a fever, chills, and food poisoning. I went to the front desk and told them and they replied that everyone gets sick when they visit that town. I had to go look for a pharmacy as they were very unhelpful and offered no support. Their concern was only to know if we ate elsewhere to blame the other restaurants. All their food is extremely condimented and everything has a sauce. I wasn’t impressed at all. The city is overrated. It dirty and most of the city has graffiti on all their homes. It didn’t feel safe at all.

Centric and affordable, it's restaurant is run by an award winning chef, near the pedestrian zone. Cons: you can hear your neighbors.

The Hotel staff made are arrival so easy. Our room was immaculate! From the elevator ride up to our suite, to the decor, and the private balcony? I will stay here every visit!

Staff service was more than excellent. We arrived early (10AM approximately) and the room was ready, we didn't have to wait and was given to us. The quietness was awesome, the hotel itself is beautiful. shoutout for Guadalupe at Tarumba Resturant and Fernando who help us with the baggages and taxi in our check out. He also have us an extra towel and water without even asking him for it.

Great location, very clean, staff very nice and welcoming. Staying here for sure next time.

Beautiful hotel, delicious food in their restaurant with good variety, very well located, close to main attractions and activities. Nice staff, kind and helpful.

Beautiful location, close to center but relatively quiet, easy and convenient check-in/checkout, very attentive staff all around. My only complaint was that my room was close to the stairwell and it would get very noisy in the middle of the night or early morning when staff or visitors would be coming in and out. Maybe there could be more attention to the noise level in the common area from 11pm-6am. Otherwise I had a lovely stay and thought it was great value. I definitely plan to return on future visits.

This is a nice old hotel with a lovely courtyard and a great restaurant, I enjoyed staying here as I got a room in the quiet area, some can be noisy depending on what side of the hotel you get a room. My room was on the second floor and it was a big, cleaned, and a comfortable bed. My daughters was a cave on the first floor in the back of the hotel, not horrible but more expensive, so make sure you don’t get one of them

Very well kept old hotel. The patio area is very well decorated. Service in restaurant and cleaning service were exceptional. The 1st room we were assigned to was large and bathroom was large, but it was to the side of the street and very noisy. Honking cars very early in the morning, car alarms going off, people yelling. Didn't get much rest. We requested to be moved and they were very accommodating. Got another room on other side of hotel, so it was very quiet. Smaller room and bathroom. Not much ventilation when corridor window was opened to let cool air in. The air conditioner is controlled by the hotel between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., so it got very hot at night. I would try to turn it on at 9:00 a.m., but it would not go on - had to call front desk each morning for them to come turn on. Keeping the A/C on all day was only way for room to stay comfortable during night. We like to sleep cool, so I should be able to control my own temperature in the room. Maybe if ventilation would have been better when we opened the window, that may have been enough since it does get cold at night in San Cristobal de Las Casas. All staff was very nice and provided exceptional service.
