ホテル ソレイル ラ アンティグア(Hotel Soleil la Antigua)

The property was relatively empty but the staff was evasive regarding an upgrade which as offered as a VIP property.

We stayed here as it’s recommended as a quiet, clean and eco friendly. Staff was friendly , the hotel has a shuttle every hour from 10:00 to 18:00. The room had a rustic look, has a room safe and fireplace. One of the eco friendly aspects was the water dispenser in the room. The restaurant is nice but there is lots of dining options in Antigua.

Do not stay here, our medical team stayed two weekends in a row and items were stolen from our luggage while we were out of the rooms. The person takes small items that might not be missed. We thought we had miss placed them but then saw the pattern and it happened both times we were there. We are going back today to discuss with hotel management.

Overall the hotel is wonderful. The bathroom not too spacious and the head shower and water pressure not good as your vave to stand very close to the wall to get the water coming out from the shower head.

The property is a short walk away from the center of Antigua. Less street noise is very noticeable. The food options are few. The food was very good though. Just prepare to wait a bit for your order to arrive. Prices were average with other places around Antigua. We were originally given a room on the second floor and upon check-in placed on the ground floor. We requested to be put back on the second floor. Much better amenities. TV was updated and actually worked. Had a coffee maker in the room and a few other things. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Room cleaning was not done daily per our request. Definitely worth the price considering the cost of similar hotels in Antigua.

Coffe should be always available - not only on the first day- Should have activities in the hotel

The mattresses were so hard and stiff, it was like sleeping on top of a wooden floor. It was impossible to get a good night sleep and feel rested to enjoy the beautiful sights of Antigua Guatemala.

It was very nicely decorated, good amenities, location was in close proximity to major sites. Service was great.

The hotel is a little way out of town - fine if you have a car. It has all the basics. Half the rooms look onto the family pool, and Club Cubana, which has loud music playing the entire day - so be aware of that if you don’t want constant noise. I requested to be moved, which they did with no issue. The rooms are pretty dark. No coffee facilities, or fridge - and there is a ‘no outside food or drinks policy’ which I assume is intended to force you to eat and drink the overpriced, mediocre offerings in the hotel. The food really isn’t great, and a simple coffee takes 20 minutes to arrive and tastes cheap (despite being $5). There is a great supermarket just a bit further down the road, with coffee shops and ice cream parlours etc which is definitely worth a visit if you don’t want to hike into town but want something of high quality.
