ラ イグアナ ペルディーダ - ホステル(La Iguana Perdida)

This hotel is *magical* and quickly became one of my all-time favorite destinations. There are so many thoughtful touches everywhere you turn. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and love into every aspect of the facilities. The staff members were ACES ALL AROUND (as were both the food and the craft cocktails). I was there on my own and it was a blissfully peaceful respite, but I knew as soon as I got there that I will go back with my husband at the first available opportunity. I. Loved. This. Place.

So beautiful and such a unique stay, I can’t wait to go back! La Fortuna felt like a unique, luxury experience and the perfect place to relax/unwind. Service is amazing and the staff is so kind. It was easy to get to La Fortuna, we booked a private boat to get to the hotel ($15). Really liked that the resort was in a remote location and only guests could enter the hotel.

This was the perfect peaceful honeymoon paradise. Would come here again. Definitely worth the stay! The staff was friendly and kind and the food was healthy and delicious. Loved that we didn’t even have to leave the room, room service was amazing!! Definitely recommend for a romantic getaway!

Absolutely loved this place, a truly beautiful setting with views over the lake and the volcanoes. Great range of accommodation from shared room to private, luxury rooms. The food is excellent and owners and staff really lovely. Loads of things going on there: fancy dress night, BBQ etc. etc. Travel on a mini launch from Panajachel to Santa Cruz to get there. Make sure you take a boat to San Juan and climb up to the view point. You can paddle board from Santa Cruz and zipline from the Nature Reserve as well as visit the Butterfly House which was amazing.

Our stay at La Fortuna was phenomenal! We were welcomed by Angelica at the docks which set the tone of hospitality and warmth for the rest of the stay. The staff went above and beyond ensuring a perfect stay. The location of the hotel is ideal for relaxation and offers breathtaking views of the volcanoes. We stayed at Suite #1; which is well maintained, very clean and spacious. The cherry on top was meeting the doggies! We loved their company while enjoying the sunset. We will love to return to this paradise.

Skip Bali and the Maldives, head straight to La Fortuna instead. Tucked away in a cove on Lake Atitlan, this eco-friendly hotel has just 5 rooms, so you know you're getting the peace and quiet you've been craving. It's a little slice of private paradise only reachable by boat, where I spent my days chilling by the lake with a book in one hand and a drink in the other. They've have private boat transfers that are affordable and make getting there a breeze. But if you can also take the public boats and can zip you over to the nearby towns. San Marcos was a personal fave of mine. I checked out a couple of other places to stay around the lake, but La Fortuna? Hands down, it was my favorite. The food? Amazing. The staff? Couldn't be nicer. Felt like I was at the most luxurious summer camp or retreat for grown-ups. Seriously, try to book your trip around when they've got a room free – it's worth it. After tackling the Acatenango hike, winding down here was just what I needed.

I had a beautiful stay at the La Iguana. I loved the room and the hammock on my balcony. I really liked the a**osphere there. The yoga classes and the sit down family dinner at seven. Great food and a very nice way to meet fellow traveler’s. The only negative thing I can say about my room is that the walls are paper thin and there were moments I felt that the guest next door very in my room chatting along!

Magical place. Wonderful staff, unique rooms, a hidden gem. Beautiful views of the lake, plenty of watercraft to use, delicious food. It's a hotel we won't soon forget, and we've been to many unique spots around the world. Just not for those with mobility issues!

Ive traveled all over the world. This is by far one of the few places that I would ever go back to. If you are looking for a relaxing break between excursions, this is a MUST!!!! You will not regret!
