グランド ホテル ミラマーレ(Grand Hotel Miramare)

We have stayed at numerous hotels throughout Italy and we still love hotel Miramare (this was our second stay). The location of the hotel is great. An easy walk to the town or to the beach (right across the street.) Our only suggestion would be to better trim the bushes near the sidewalk. The sidewalk is very skinny and it is difficult to walk with the bushes overhanging the walk way. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The terrace with the view of the garden has a nice sun screen so it could be enjoyed all times of the day. The shining star at the hotel was the service. The front desk staff, bar staff and pool staff were attentive and helpful. The front desk assisted us with making dinner reservations, transfer arrangements and directions. I never felt like we were bothering them…they always greeted us warmly. The pool was wonderful. The salt water was clean and the pool is large. There are tons of loungers and you could pick any ones you wanted. We loved the private beach club just across the street where hotel guests are treated like movie stars. The hotel is expensive and the food is very pricey…but an early evening cocktail on the front portico while listening to the piano player play all night - looking at the beautiful ocean view…..honestly, that is priceless.

This is not a five star hotel room. Looks like a 3.5 star. Paid over $1500 a night and got a park view with a piece of piping. See photo. Very disappointing. Just came from the St. Regis is Florence which was 5X nicer. The beach and pool however are very pleasant. Bummer about the rooms. Beware.

Grand Hotel Miramare is an incredible hotel and we had an amazing stay. High attention to detail, great staff & service, and simply stunning. Very close walking distance to restaurants & shopping but set away from the crowd. Pool & beach club & very nice gym. We will definitely want to return.

gorgeous 5 start hotel with amazing service, a beautiful beach club. we were upgraded to a sea view room. small but clean with great diptyque bath products. very close to portofino - don't take a private car just hop on the city bus! can't wait to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Miramare. Our room was large with a balcony facing the pool and ocean. The sun streaming in the windows with the serene colors of the room was gorgeous. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lovely linens, towels and amenities. Who knew a shoe sponge could make my sneakers look almost brand new. We loved the breakfast and found walking to the train station and Portofino easy and enjoyable. We had cocktails most nights and loved the piano player on the grand patio. We ate dinner one night at the hotel and found the service excellent and the food so-so. Our meals were luke warm and lacking flavor. There are much better restaurants in Santa Magherita Ligure. We would definitely return.

The Grand Hotel Miramare was our favorite hotel during our 12 day tour of Italy. We came toward the end of their season so it was much less crowded. Our travel agent booked the hotel for us so we were not aware that this town basically shuts down at the end of October. The hotel is beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The weather was not great during our stay and one of our tours was cancelled. We were able to get to the other towns and do our own tour with the help of the front desk. Another reviewer complained that there were no taxis. That seems to be the case. And if you want to hire one, it is expensive. The ferry closed down during our stay because of the weather so we walked the 45 minutes to Portofino (there is an easy bus option available too). It was a gorgeous walk. And to get to Cinque Terre, we walked to the train station (15 minutes from the hotel) and took the train there. The town of Santa Margherita is nice and quaint. Maybe because we came late in the season or maybe because of the weather, but we found a lot of the restaurants closed. We had great meals in Portofino and Vernazza so it's great to explore the neighboring towns. We also ate 2 dinners at the hotel's restaurant. While a little more expensive, it was amazing food and fantastic service. And their pastry chef is impressive as well. From the morning pastries to the dessert, it was all delicious. Because of the time of year we came, we didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of the pool area. Highly recommend this hotel.

An historic hotel with all the modern amenities you need. The food is amazing, the service was impeccable, and the views are breathtaking. Walking distance to ferry, downtown restaurants, shopping, and sites. My only critique is of their spa. We ended our stay with a massage, and it was just okay.

We recently stayed at Grand Hotel Miramare. The hotel is in a perfect location and is just beautiful. Our room and the bathroom were spacious. The room had a double closet with room for all our luggage. The view from our balcony was just gorgeous. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the beautiful pool. An added bonus was the outdoor bar with the amazing piano player that played each night. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and perfect before we left for sightseeing for the day We loved our stay at Grand Hotel Miramare and highly recommend it!

This hotel was a splurge for my “big” birthday trip to Italy and it was truly a highlight of my trip! We were greeted with a delicious welcome drink before being escorted to our room…they upgraded us to a suite with a wonderful balcony overlooking the pool and Ligurian Sea. What a treat! The room was spacious and had an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom was also spacious and had a window with a view of the sea and beaches. We saw the most incredible sunrises and sunsets from both the bathroom window and the balcony each day. Staying here instead of Positano was the best decision we made. Positano is lovely but Santa Margherita Ligure is a much nicer choice. So many wonderful shops, restaurants, and wine bars…and some of the best gelato we had in Italy. This hotel had a private beach across from the hotel which set you up with towels, chaise, and umbrellas. The sea was crystal clear and quite lovely to swim in. Keep in mind the beaches “close” in October. The hotel pool staff was amazingly attentive too so we enjoyed both the pool and beach. Breakfast was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed it each day on the front porch of the hotel overlooking the sea. The ferry isn’t far if you want to visit other towns in the area. But after visiting you will be delighted to return to the Grand Hotel Miramare! If you are wanting a relaxing and elegant (but not stuffy!) hotel to enjoy the region you want to stay here. I can’t wait to return!
