Very good location and facility. Old style but everything is well maintained. You need a car to be mobile, as public traffics is only bus line.

the best hotel in funchak

Die Aussicht ist super. Das Frühstück ok. Der Service leider garnicht gut. Das Personal gibt sich nicht wirklich Mühe nach einer Lösung zu suchen. In unserem Zimmer im 1. Stock Richtung Meer hat es ständig vibriert. Wir haben versucht zu schlafen aber man wurde im 5 minutentakt wieder wach. Wir haben an der Rezeption bescheid gegeben und gefragt es abzuschalten. Aber der Mitarbeiter wollte nicht einmal nachsehen was das ist ...auch gab es keine anderen Zimmer mehr ...am nächsten Tag sagte man uns dass man nachsehen würde. Aber es kam nur die Antwort vielleicht war es die Klima oder der Kühlschrank. Wir haben bereits versichert dass beides ausgeschalteten war. Auch haben wir nicht einmal anteilig Entschädigung für eine schlaflose Nacht erhalten...

Hôtel très atypique qui a une vue magnifique sur la baie de Funchal. Un réel paradis pour moi car pas trop fréquenté, endroit calme et facile d'accès. Avantage aussi d'être a 10 min seulement Funchal. Le personnel aussi est à vos petits soins. 🥰🥰🥰

Such a lovely hotel. The staff are helpful, warm and friendly and made our stay very special. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the beds are very comfy. The noise from the road can be annoying at night, but we closed the window, put on the air conditioning and slept well. If air con is not your thing, a fan can be provided. Breakfast is very varied and plentiful, and the views from the dining room are fabulous! We ate two evening meals - both were generous, delicious and competitively priced. The pool area is very nice, with plenty of sunbeds arranged around the pool and on the terraces. Pool towels can be collected from reception. The bar is well-stocked, but the one (very small) niggle I had was that there were no individual bags of crisps available, just some offered in a bowl. Buses to Funchal are regular and cost just uner two euros. Would we stay at Ocean Gardens again? Oh yes!!

Fabulous hotel with views to die for! We stayed in the newly renovated rooms and they were just stunning and again had amazing views. The hotel was super clean, the pool area was lovely. It is out of the centre so you do need to taxi which costs €10-15 or get the bus ( which didn't turn up when we tried so we found taxi better) we didn't mind being out of the centre because the hotel was worth it! The staff were great and the restaurant was beautiful with great food. The only thing I can fault the hotel on is that the water in our room was not replenished. Otherwise it was perfect. I would absolutely stay here again!

A nice clean hotel. The staff are all lovely and cannot do enough for you. Breakfast is great with a good range of hot, and continental style delectables. Just outside the business of Funchal, but only a cheap 10 minute bus ride to the centre. The views of the ocean are breathtaking. It's a joy to dine taking in such views.

Found this hotel through a Google search. I had some queries before we arrive, responses to emails were very quick and clear. Check in was probably one of the easiest I've ever experienced. All staff were really helpful, courteous and attentive. Room was great, a Superior Bay View, was spacious, bed was big and very comfortable. Plenty of cupboard/drawer space and bathroom was large. Very large balcony with an amazing view. Was immaculately clean on arrival and made up to the same standard every day. Excellent selection for breakfast and lovely breakfast area - airy and cool. You could sit outside if you wanted to. We used the restaurant for a few lunches and dinners. Not a huge menu (which is a good thing) everything we ordered was excellent and reasonably priced. The pool area was very spacious with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Pool was not big but enough to have a good swim. Spectacular views. Value for money was excellent.

The most beautiful view! Even if it was a bit far way from the city center. The hotel was perfect, the pool area lovely. Staff at the reception and restaurant were super nice and helpful, made us feel at home! Will be coming back in a near future!

A truly four-star hotel. Large, well appointed rooms and bathrooms, quality furniture, impeccable cleanliness, kind, polite, helpful staff. The restaurant is excellent (but quite expensive, it's true), also with a professional and very kind staff. I highlight mainly Miss Ludovica, a very special person and a very pretty young lady. The only minus - the hotel is a bit isolated, there is nothing of great interest nearby. But a free shuttle service to Funchal is provided, three times a day, with the exception of weekends and holidays. I recommend this hotel.

This place is so nice and romantic. The hotel has great views and a lot of amenities. We stayed in room 601, new room, everything was nice and fresh and had one of the best view. The breakfast and dinner was delicious. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Marcelo and Barbara lovely staff. Marcelo has helped us with tips and advices about Madeira. He has wrote a note for us with most of the attraction points. Lovely place to stay!

Rooms with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean & Funchal Harbour. If you get a room facing the harbour, there's always something to catch a glance of. The cable cars going up & down the mountainous terrain that is the backdrop to the city, to the many cruise boats that vist Madiera every week. Occasionally, youll see a replica of Christopher Columbus's Clipper floating about.  The downside is the continual drone of the traffic below passing endlessly on a daily basis except Sunday.  The rooms are good, clean, comfy beds & the cleaning staff are very friendly & do a good job. The breakfast is okay. Healthier options as well as usual bacon cherrio sausages, eggs fried or scrambled.  There's a pool at the top of the hotel of which the surrounding balconies have even better views of what I previously mentioned.  There's a bar up there which is open during the day with reasonably priced drinks.  The staff are very friendly & will help where possible. They have a shuttle into Funchal every day of which I used once. The guy turned up on time at the pickup spot on time.  It is quite a trek to town walking. This will take an hour. Footpaths on the roads aren't everywhere, so are a bit at the mercy of the traffic.  There's no coffee & tea making facilities in your room of which I found to be a let down.  These little niggles will petre out into into insignificance as you get around the beautiful island of Madiera. The people are the most friendly I've met anywhere in the world. Will be back.
