Alpinhotel Maistatt

Excellent location within 4 minute walk to gondola and 6 minutes to the train station. Rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ample and the evening meals were very tasty. All the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The sauna and pool were spotless and made for a relaxing hour after hitting the slopes. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was one of a comfortable, relaxed and personal. My only build would be to have in room kettle. That’s for a great stay.

Excellent location very short walk to Planai west and shops. Great food, lovely quiet and spacious rooms and pool sauna area. Heated indoor/outdoor pool. Very helpful and friendly staff and immaculate throughout. Very good value and would definitely book again.

Really nice atmosphere Old but nice hotel,perfect also for families with kids.. The food is perfect. It has everything that you need after a long day to relax..sauna,swimming pool perfect.. The bar is also nice and all the staff really nice and friendly All the staff member speak more than one language witch is fantastic for visitors that they don’t speak any German

Picked this hotel due to reasonable price along with location and previous reviews of 4.5/5. I feel this review rating is correct. Travelled in a group of 15 friends to ski this area including day trip to Flachau. Had a very good week with excellent skiing across all the locations which were easily reached via the free bus which is a 2 minute walk away. We decided to use a ski hire shop close to the central Town lift which gave us excellent equipment and as next to central lift was easy to drop off after skiing and straight in bars. 15 minute walk from hotel to town and central lift although Planai west lift is only a 2 minute walk. Hotel food was very good and staff looked after us each morning for breakfast and evening dinner as half board. Good selection and staff are happy to provide extra main courses if required. Some nights we tried all 3 options as portions not large but ample. Soup and salads are self serve so lots to eat with small bar if you want drinks. Rooms are spotless as is hotel and spa available if required. Beds are comfy and room hot but no problem with window open. Good shower also so overall cannot fault our stay. Would highly recommend and thanks to all the staff for our weeks stay jan 27 to Feb 3.

The hotel had recently been taken over by new management and there may have been some teething troubles. That being said, the Hotel is well situated for the Plania West gondola, 5minutes walk. The Hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Staff were all very pleasant and generally helpful. The dining room was pleasant and the food was very good. Tasty and well presented. Salad bar, soup, choice of mains and a desert ( deserts relied heavily on chocolate mousse) While the food was excellent, the portions left something to be desired at the beginning of the week. This was quickly rectified and all were happy. Ski room was heated and secure. The Spa in the hotel was very good, sauna, steam etc. with a small pool leading outside. Very pleasant. Now for the small issues: There were no bar pricelist available, so you were buying blind. The bar bill at the end of the week did not quite tally, but Alex (the new owner) took our comments and re issued a more accurate bill which we were all happy with. The heating in one room failed but an alternative heater was found. Despite the teething issues I would happily return to this hotel. Well done, keep on improving. Great value for money, great place to stay.

The Hotel Mitterhofer on a skiing week with Crystal. Early January we arrived at a rather chaotic situation, the hotel has been very recently been taken over after a long closure due to COVID and the manager and his team were learning to adapt and overcome many teething issues, not always successfully ~ interesting procedures, chaos many minor problems ensued. However Alex the manager and his staff were constantly trying to make sure that guests were comfortable, happy and well looked after all staff were welcoming and friendly with the exception of the restaurant manager who would have been better suited to being a goat herd ( he’s been relived of this position we believe) and obviously short handed and were on a steep learning curve. The hotel is ideally situated for those skiing, five minutes flat walk to the Planai west lifts, 10/15 into the town, excellent boot room, heated boot driers and a lift to take your tired legs to your room. You can leave skis/board for a small fee at the ski shop at the lift station. The location is quiet and gives great views to the mountains. The rooms are modern, spacious, quiet, with comfortable beds and never an issue with hot water, they are also very clean and the house staff diligent. The WiFi is excellent in the reception area and a touch patchy on the upper floors, all in all,it’s ok. The sauna and steam room are also excellent (textile free) but let down by the fact two of the showers are in need of maintenance. The small outdoor pool is a great bonus, and has a relaxing area to lounge. The new bar man David has taken control of the bar, where the prices are fair and selection of drinks are good, it’s an excellent little bar where david host the atmosphere easily, before hand it was a little stark. The food is to a high standard, the chef certainly can cook. Portions at the start of our week were a little on the small side for those on a ski holiday, four courses soup, salad, main and dessert. The mains are often a choice of meat, fish and a veggie option. Breakfast is continental, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage at the only hot option, croissants, cheese, meat , bread and cereals are available and all good quality. One failure is a shortage of breakfast tea! Now being TUI ski destinations with a fair few British ~ please don’t run out of tea lol. For those using busses for the slopes, travelling around or the train both statins are 5 min from the hotel and the services are prompt and reliable. This hotel will service your needs for an honest Austrian ski week, give the staff a little bit of slack as they’re short handed and you’ll have a wonderful time at the Mitterhofer
