I am almost reluctant to write this review because part of me wants to keep Finca Ratxó a secret. My wife and I arrived expecting a nice luxury hotel in the Tramuntana mountains. We left wondering whether we'd accidentally spent a week in heaven and nobody had told us. The setting is simply ridiculous. Every direction you look is postcard-worthy. Mountains, forests, birds circling high above the valleys, friendly goats regularly dropping by to check on our wellbeing, and a peacock who seemed convinced he was part of the management team. We stayed in the Royal Suite and spent much of the week asking ourselves, "Why would we ever leave this terrace?" The answer, as it turns out, was only for food, wine, spa treatments, and occasionally to confirm that the rest of the property was every bit as beautiful as our room. The suite itself deserves special mention. Four terraces, breathtaking views, total privacy, and enough outdoor space that we frequently found ourselves moving from one perfect spot to another depending on where the sun happened to be. It wasn't a hotel room; it felt more like our own private mountain retreat. The staff deserve enormous credit. Every member of the team seemed genuinely delighted that we were there. Not the polished, scripted version of hospitality you often find in luxury hotels, but warm, authentic kindness. By the end of the week we felt less like guests and more like mildly spoiled family members. The food was exceptional throughout. We arrived expecting good hotel dining and quickly realised the kitchen had other ideas. Breakfasts became leisurely events, dinners stretched into long evenings, and lunches elsewhere on the island were frequently compared unfavourably to what we had back at the Finca. The spa deserves a warning label. Enter at your own risk. After a treatment you may find yourself incapable of returning to normal life, employment, or any form of responsibility. One of our favourite discoveries was that doing absolutely nothing became an activity in itself. We would sit on the terrace listening to birdsong, watching the mountains change colour with the sunlight, occasionally floating in the pool and wondering why we had ever considered busy holidays a good idea. What makes Finca Ratxó truly special is the sense of peace. There is no noise, no rush, no pressure to do anything at all. Just mountains, nature, outstanding hospitality, excellent food and wine, and a feeling that the rest of the world has somehow drifted very far away. There are luxurious hotels. There are beautiful hotels. There are relaxing hotels. And then there is Finca Ratxó, which somehow manages to be all three while making you question every future holiday booking you've ever made. My wife fell in love with the place within minutes of arriving. I lasted almost a full hour before agreeing. By day three she was suggesting we return next year. By day five we were looking at availability. Before we had even checked out, we had upgraded our
