Right on the beach, but room was not very clean

I stayed at Kombo Beach Resort for a week and had a great experience. They customized the food to my liking, and Mr. Singh made some amazing Indian dishes for me. The service was really good, and the staff made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. The resort has a lovely ambiance with clean facilities, a nice pool, and beautiful beach views. I also enjoyed the live music in the evenings. It’s a very safe place, and I felt at ease the entire time. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Kombo Beach is a lovely hotel. Situated with the beach 3 steps away literally it’s an haven in the Gambian sunshine. Our room ( 101) was the closest to reception and the pool was just a short walk away. It was lovely walking into the cool room with the air conditioning doing its job to perfection The beach is beautiful ( more of that later ) and the swimming pool has an even depth of 120cm, so easy to just wander or stand in the cool water, with a 50 cm ledge at one end. There is no 7:00am sun bed hogging either which is lovely. As for the staff, there is nothing they can’t do for you , so friendly and smiling , and this comes from the top with General Manager Victor walking around and talking to everyone.. and he has a great collection of shirts. He also left us a beautiful hand written card on the first day welcoming us.( more of Victor later ) A special mention must go out to Linda who works on the bar ( can’t miss her with her straw hat ) who is one of the most engaging colleagues we have met on our travels. ( and more of Linda later!) We were AI so the food was included and this was fine for us, all well cooked , freshly made omelettes for breakfast , and if you want to go a la carte you get a 25% discount … we ate there 3 times and the total cost was around £65. Every meal there was delicious so I’d highly recommend it. Drinks are all local and if there was any improvement that could be made it’s to have the beer colder… it was lovely and I’m going to grab one more before we get picked up to go home… So what is all this later business….. well I came here with a plan, and on Sunday under the moonlight on the beach I proposed to my girlfriend…. ( she said yes) We told Linda who was whooping with delight, hugging us and pouring Prosecco to celebrate and she was over the moon. Shortly after Victor came over and congratulated us, and asked us which room we were in. The following morning when we went to breakfast , we were lead to a beautifully decorated table with a bottle of fizz in an ice bucket. So perhaps more than most people this will always have a special place in our heart, and somewhere in the future we will come back. Massive thank you to Victor and his team for making this a very special holiday.

We have just returned from a 11 night stay at the Kombo beach, and couldn’t fault anything. Super food, very comfortable beds, and friendly helpful staff from reception, bars, restaurants and pool and beach, but a special mention to our lovely room maid Kaddy Jammeh, where nothing was too much trouble, and she always went the extra mile, thank you again! We would not hesitate to stay at the Kombo beach again
