Shangri-La Half View Vacation Homestay (Near the Giant Prayer Wheel, Dukezong Ancient City)

Great family-run place! It had such nice design elements and everything in the room and hotel flows beautifully design wise whilst remaining practical (heating, humidifier & oxygen machine). Views of the prayer wheel & temple from our bedside wall to floor window and on the rooftop with location being topnotch without compromise for peace & quiet! We loved the special touches like finger tea, fruit at the front desk, delicious noodles made fresh to order for breakfast. The discount for the infamous Shangri La Zhaya Tusi banquet was also amazing and they gave us a ride there and back arranging everything for us! Great communication and super helpful — if I’m back in Shangri La I would definitely come here !

Found out from owner’s mum that it is newly opened. The room is spacious and could see that the amenities and furnishing are of good quality and tasteful. The heated flooring, humidifier, heating in the bathroom and oxygen machine were thoughtful especially for us who were new to the high altitude environment. Had complimentary transport from the train station and to the airport too. The mixian cooked upon order and self-service side dishes (stir-fried vegetables, steamed corn, sweet potato, dumpling, seasoning etc) were prepared by the owner’s mum. The free flow brown sugar ginger tea was really good especially in the cold weather. The owner’s mum was kind and friendly, and constantly reminded to stay warm and hydrated to prevent altitude sickness. Had taken up the Tusi feast through the hotel and had complimentary transport to and fro the restaurant by the hotel, and we managed to see the famous “Song Hye Kyo” at the Tusi feast! Great view of the Guishan Park from the rooftop too. There is an elevator but do note that there is one flight of stairs to climb to get to the rooftop.
