Shangri-La · Tangbuli | ཤམ་བྷ་ལ་ ཐང་པུ་ལི།—A Melodic Sanctuary at the Foot of Snow MountainsDeep within the folds of the Hengduan Mountains, where the gilded light of snow-capped peaks spills into the swirling waters of the bay, time crystallizes into the unique rhythm of Tibet.—Tangbuli, this stone-clad retreat perched on the mountainside, overlooks the "Snow Pear Blossom Valley", where the March blizzard of white pear blossoms merges with the eternal snowline into a dreamlike river. To its right lies "Juhui Pool", a natural eddy revered by locals as a fortune-gathering oasis—its emerald waters a sacred fishing ground where fish chase the light, while the nearby Thousand-Lake Mountain mirrors the starry expanse of untouched wilderness.Every window frames a masterpiece: at dawn, the mist over Snow Pear Blossom Valley lingers like ink diffusing in water; at dusk, the ripples of Juhui Pool shimmer with五彩 (wǔcǎi, "five-colored") blessings, their reflections intertwining with darting fish into a mandala of illusion and reality. Here, we compose with stone as staves and wood as strings, weaving the whispers of fluttering prayer flags into a rest note suspended near the clouds.—"When the incense smoke rises toward the snow peaks, you’ll hear the harmony of Tanggula wind-horse flags and pear petals meeting the earth."(Note: Tibetan terms like "Juhui Pool (聚洄渁)" retain cultural weight; "wind-horse flags" conveys 风马's spiritual symbolism. Poetic devices like "rest note" preserve musical metaphor.)
YYusry MuhammadOur host, Mr. Yao Xiang, was the epitome of kindness and hospitality. From picking us up at the train station to accommodating our requests even late at night, he went above and beyond to make our stay remarkable. He even ensured a smooth journey to our next destination. His genuine care and attentiveness made us feel truly valued.
The room was nothing short of perfection, heated floors, cozy heated beds, a hot shower, and a delightful selection of snacks and drinks. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged. The package included a delicious welcome high tea, and the chance to try on traditional ******* clothing for me, my wife, and my son was a unique and memorable highlight.
The breathtaking backdrop of majestic mountains, sprawling grass fields, grazing sheep, and friendly dogs and cat created a picturesque setting. It felt like stepping into a dream—a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Three days in this incredible place were far too short to fully immerse ourselves in its rich culture and beauty. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone seeking a mix of tranquility and adventure. With its sincere, helpful, and polite host and exceptional crew, this place truly offers a magnificent experience you’ll never regret.
If you’re searching for a place that feels like home and inspires the soul, look no further this place has it all.

VVy Anh NguyenThis is by far the best hotel I stayed at during my trip to China. The hotel is equipped with all modern amenities, especially the toilet with an automatic bidet (something that’s not found anywhere else in China). The room was incredibly cozy with modern heating facilities, and the host even provided an oxygen machine (though I didn’t actually need to use it). I truly felt that it was worth every penny for the two nights I spent here.
One of the highlights was the adorable and friendly Ragdoll cat that lives here! The hotel owner even allowed us to bring the cat into our room to play, and it was just so sweet and playful.
Moreover, the host offered us a free pick-up and drop-off service at both the train station and the airport, even though it was 7 in the morning! I honestly have no complaints about this hotel. If you want to enjoy a fantastic stay in Shangrila, book this hotel now!
SSonia Wan CYThis hotel gives a very fresh and new first impression. I found out from Quzhen (曲珍)that it only opened in July. The design of the entire hotel is excellent – very chill yet infused with local ethnic characteristics. It's not overly ******* like many guesthouses tend to be; the balance is just right, modern with an artistic feel. It's a place that literary and artistic youths would surely love, with many photo hot spots.
Quzhen (曲珍)was my butler for this trip. She is an incredibly enthusiastic girl, providing very attentive service. She was responsive to every request and exceptionally thoughtful. When I felt unwell one day, she immediately arranged for an oxygen tube for me and checked on me regularly. She makes you feel at home. The other staff members are also very warm and friendly.
The hotel's location is absolutely top-notch, right next to the Songzanlin Monastery. It takes less than two minutes to walk to the side door.
The large floor-to-ceiling window in the room allows you to literally fall asleep looking at the Songzanlin Monastery. It's a highly recommended hotel.
If I have the chance to come to Shangri-La again, I will definitely return here. Quzhen (曲珍)feels like a friend waiting for me to come back in Shangri-La. It combines the facilities of a design hotel with the warm service of a guesthouse.
I have a few minor suggestions for the hotel: Next time I return, it would be wonderful if there were a few sun-beds on the terrace at the left of the restaurant. Lying there, sunbathing, reading a book while gazing at the Songzanlin Monastery would be super chill. Also, I think the breakfast could offer some Western options, such as bread, fried eggs, sausages, sandwiches, yogurt, coffee & tea etc. Afternoon tea could also be a nice addition.
As for the room facilities, everything is very good. It has diffuse oxygen, a humidifier, and many books for reading. It would be perfect if some seating cushions could be added to the bench next to the window along with a small tea table and tea set.
In conclusion, the entire experience was excellent. Thank you to every staff member at the hotel, especially Quzhen(曲珍). I hope to have the opportunity to see you again – my friend in Shangri-La.
