Without a doubt, Courtyard by Marriott Shillong is one of the best hotels in Shillong and an excellent choice for both business and leisure travellers.
The breakfast buffet is simply outstanding—one of the best I’ve had. I still miss the authentic dosa with its delicious chutneys, as well as the opportunity to sample local Khasi dishes. The variety, freshness, and quality of the food were exceptional and made every morning something to look forward to.
The rooms are modern, spotless, and very well maintained. What impressed me the most, however, was the service. From the reception team to the concierge, everyone was genuinely warm, professional, and eager to help. I can’t remember all their names, but the ladies at the front desk were exceptionally courteous, well-trained, and had outstanding customer service skills. They made me feel truly welcome throughout my stay.
The hotel’s location is another huge advantage. It’s within easy reach of great bars, the spice market, cafés, salons, spas, and local shops. I especially enjoyed taking a short walk to a small chai stall nearby—one of those simple experiences that made Shillong even more memorable. The fresh fruits sold around the city are incredibly sweet and definitely worth trying.
Getting around is very convenient, with taxis readily available nearby. Just remember to negotiate the fare before your ride, as bargaining is common. The hotel also has a spacious, well-equipped gym, which is perfect for keeping up with your fitness routine while travelling.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong again if I return to this beautiful city. With its excellent hospitality, superb breakfast, comfortable rooms, and strategic location, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shillong.
