I stayed here for one night at the end of July 2025. During the night, I was stung by a centipede that crawled onto my head while I was asleep. The area became painful and itchy, and it was both a frightening and distressing experience. What shocked me even more was the hotel’s response. When I raised this with the front desk and the manager, they simply said that this was "normal" in their ryokan. Is being stung by a centipede in your sleep really something a guest should consider "normal" at a ryokan? This is completely unacceptable for any accommodation — let alone one claiming to be well-known or reputable. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was equally underwhelming: The room was unbearably hot until after dinner. The dinner had significantly fewer dishes compared to other ryokans in the same area and price range. To reach some of the onsen baths, I had to cross a public road accessible by cars, which felt awkward and lacked privacy. All in all, this was the worst ryokan experience I’ve had in Japan — and I’ve stayed at many. I strongly advise thinking twice before booking here, especially if you're expecting the level of service and safety that typically comes with a well-regarded ryokan.
