Premier Inn Stevenage Central

This was a simply excellent experience. Value for money was superb for two triple rooms as we were travelling as a group of six. The dinning experience was carefully managed by hotel, food was of an excellent quality and breakfast was completely customised to each individual's needs. Rooms clean and comfortable. Close to centre of town, but nicely placed just off the main roads. However, staff were simply superb from the Manager to all members of staff. Friendly, accommodating and helpful.

Not a great example of a Premier Inn. Chap on reception upon arrival was aloof and pretty uninterested in being helpful so that was disappointing. Rest of staff were more customer focused and friendly but he was not! Rooms were fine , clearly an older hotel but clean and comfortable. Hotel was rammed with junior football teams on tour and i found that a challenge as the kids were tearing around the place (parent's fault not hotrl) but this impacted our experience. Breakfast was dreadful. Cooked to order but was truly terrible. All other Premier Inns have been brilliant but this was poor and over cooked, not particularly hot (probably because of volume of guests). Doubt I'll use this one again despite visiting this area regularly.

I've used this hotel for years and it has some enduring strengths: good location with easy access to the A1M and Stevenage Railway station free car parking slightly better than the average rooms for a premier inn and with reasonably effective aircon that isnt deafening Check in was swift and efficient and in general the staff were fine. Breakfast however was absolutely hopeless. This was a 2 night stay with different teams doing breakfast each day; same chaotic and shambolic experience though: bakery "selection" without pancakes, pastries, croissants and very little bread. On the Sunday ran out of most jams Saturday cooked breakfast ordered reasonably quickly but not much selection and took an age to arrive. Sunday took 20 minutes to order a cooked breakfast which took a further 25 minutes to serve; then arrived with 1 item of food carbonised to the point it was tricky to cut. It wouldnt have been so appalling if I'd actually got what I ordered but I didnt on either day. And this was the same for the other guests we ate with. Cereals & yogurt were ok but the cornflakes was 60% dust and really needed cleaned out Dirty cutlery & crockery. To some extent I expect this so always check but this was particularly bad and on both days Juice selection limited on both days and what there was was served warm Coffee machine on the blink both days and no cups on the Saturday I'm not quite at the point where I wouldnt again use this hotel; its strengths are what they are. But I wouldnt necessarily take breakfast here. Overall I've rated the service as average as the competent check in and general service were fine; but breafast was shocking.

It’s a quiet place to stay and is centrally located so access to everything is easy but the hotel is let down by the staff at breakfast who clearly are suffering some sort of trauma and therefore walk about in a zombie apocalypse state. Not very professional and polite! The hotel is still worth considering as it’s clean and quiet.

My room had a half eaten mouldy banana just laying on the floor and a skid mark down the toilet. The restaurant and bar was filthy, old cups, glasses and plates all over the place for ages and no coffee the whole time I was there and nothing to be said about it just oh I thought it was working. It had a dirty vibe about the place

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very warming welcome from the duty managers, check in was speedy and we were able to get to our room very quickly. The bed was comfy and the room overall quite clean. Evening staff very lovely and breakfast was great quality too.

Nice big comfy room but very disappointed with the breakfast and evening meal service. The breakfast staff member was expressing frustration to everyone about being understaffed and her being on her own. Tables were not being cleared promptly, and there was a delay of 10 minutes in receiving cutlery. I waited for 15 minutes but my order for a cooked breakfast wasn’t taken and despite the desire for a cooked breakfast I couldn’t wait any longer to was going to opt for a continental breakfast which was self service there was no available cutlery to enjoy it with. Breakfast was what I can only describe as chaos so I gave up, left and went into Stevenage for my breakfast. Furthermore, I was disappointed to find that the hotel did not offer evening meal service after 9 o’clock, and the bar closed at 11 o’clock. This lack of dining options prompted me to rely on delivery services. Additionally, the room only contained two coffee sachets and was not cleaned or replenished during the stay.

Spent 11 nights at Premier Inn, apart from one particular member of staff lacking motivation and customer service skills, the stay was amazing. Rooms spacious and clean, comfy beds and friendly staff. On arrival one of the beds was not set up and Ellis and Mani were amazing and came straight up to sort it out despite my offer to make it myself. Front of house staff Debbie and Christina were always enjoyable to interact with. The Chef Monty cooks beautifully and overall the breakfasts were unfaultable. I would also like to say Front of House member Claudia on Sunday 3rd March 2024 was one of the best customer facing hospitality workers I have come across anywhere. She had a radiant infectious smile, very upbeat and cheerful and was very observant in making sure everything was running smoothly in the dinning room. By far a huge asset to the Premier Inn team.

Room/bathroom was tidy and clean. Needs better ventilation in the bathroom during showers and AC isn't too powerful. Breakfast is ok, cutlery& cups were dirty(lipstick stains, old food stuck between the forks etc) but staff was quick to correct this. They're very friendly, welcoming and polite. I would recommend if you need a bed for the night at an average price. *Please note that there is no room service via a phone, you need to go down to reception everytime you need something for the room.
