ベステローデン キストホテル(Vesteralen Kysthotell)

I stayed here to get to another place for my business meeting as it was close to the airport. I arrived late at night and couldn't phone a taxi from the airport to the hotel so I called the hotel and they kindly ordered one for me. They had described how I would get into the hotel and my room and when I arrived they were there to greet me and let me in themselves anyway despite the fact that is was the middle of the night. The room was fine and all I needed with a kettle for tea. The view was stunning. But the best experience was when I had to leave. They had prepared the most thoughtful breakfast for me to take with and they called me another taxi, too. The staff really makes this hotel! they were so friendly, thoughtful and kind. I would go back.

Following a recent restructure and evaluation of its abundant assets in accommodations, this hotel has become more than a place to sleep and eat - it’s a cozy oasis from the harsh and fierce elements so common to us in Northern Norway. During a business trip working outside in extreme weather conditions for a couple of days, it was a joy entering this hotel and be greeted with capable, enthusiastic and helpful staff. No request on our behalf were too complex or difficult to fulfill. It seems that everyone works together organically, are empowered to do as they see best, yet managed in a way where we the customers do not notice anything. One would be forgiven to mistake this to be an effectively run family hotel - and I mean this in the most complimentary manner possible. Food is abundant virtually all day long (at least when we where there), breakfast simple but more than decent enough, super tidy, clean everywhere, and the hotel room spacious (though not luxurious, very comfortable but old fashioned - a welcome change to the plentiful modern hotels) with everything working as it should. I believe they also have apartments closer to the coast, as well as a camping area. In a nutshell, if they continue like this they might just epiphanise what accommodation in Northern Norway should all be about - majestic nature seen through large windows with cheery guests all around, because they feel at home.

Excellent breakfast included. Sentrum is a short walk away. Clean and quiet.

Huge construction site right next to hotel ruining what could be a peaceful ish place to stay. Houses are clean but very basically furnished. Asian restaurant is comfortable but food could be improved. Hurtigruta and goods port right opposite which is convenient but can again be noisy. Stokmarknes is a somewhat uneventful town but a good staging post for Vesterålen and Lofoten.

Fin plass, fine rom, god frokost. Litt uheldige med middagen, men de ordnet opp. Uerfaren kokk antagelig. Alt i alt et fint opphold.

Die Lage! Direkt mit Meerblick und man hat Ebbe und Flut immer vor der Tür. Die Hütten sind modern eingerichtet und haben eine super Küche inkl. Backofen und Mikrowelle. Nur der Toaster fehlt. Die Rorbuer gehören zu einer Hotelanlage und beinhalten ein Frühstück, was uns gar nicht bewußt war. War eine tolle Überraschung! Es gibt kostenfreie Waschmaschinen und Trockner auf dem angrenzenden Campingplatz. Nachmittags kommt die Hurtigrute vorbeigefahren und man könnte sogar zu Fuß über die Brücke ins kleine Stokmarknes laufen. Sehr, sehr empfehlenswert!
