We were last at this magical place 25 years ago and it has retained all its magic and sparkle. The location is on the longest lake in India and a 2 hour drive from the airport. But the wait is worth it. The property and team look after you wonderfully well - very attentive with care and professional pride in their work. The cuisine is varied to cater for every palette with Indian to Continental all expertly prepared and presented. The Ayurvedic facilities are very special and they showed a real understanding of any ailments and suggested treatments which really tackled the symptoms. Lots of activities are available from bird watching to nature trek into the local village to canoes and sunset cruises. Every member of the team greets you with a warm and engaging smile throughout the day and evening. Always difficult to isolate a few when all the team was fantastic but Thomas, Sri Kumar, Jasmine, Jasmina, Surya and of course the knowledgable Prateesh need a special mention. Thanks for a wonderful stay and hope to return. Prateesh - nature guide
Absolutely wonderful experience and stay. Right from the stunning location to the warm hospitality of the staff, the indulgent spa services and the amazing food, everything was just perfect. They made my birthday extra special and truly memorable. Special mentions to Priya, Chef Subin and the entire team at Taj Kumarakom for a lovely stay overall!
i recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort, and it was an incredibly relaxing experience. the ambience inside the property is truly pleasing and serene, with a nature-friendly vibe that immediately puts you at ease. the rooms were well-maintained, spacious, and provided a perfect balance of comfort and style. one of the highlights of the resort is definitely the pool—it’s stunning and adds so much to the overall experience. if you’re visiting, i highly recommend opting for the pool-view villas; they offer an unbeatable view and atmosphere. the food was delicious, with a wide variety of options, although slightly on the pricey side. that said, the quality more than made up for it. lastly, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. overall, a wonderful place for a peaceful getaway!
A worldly paradise! Beautiful rooms in a lovingly well maintained environment . All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to achieve good service. We did have an issue with service once, but this was very quickly overcome, by a prompt and efficient manager. Lots of complimentary activities are available, but truth be told, we ended up lazing about our Meandering pool villa, which was sublime. The seafood restaurant is particularly good and they make a mean mojito to boot. This hotel was the highlight of our month long trip!
I booked a 21-day Ayurvedic detox program at Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond, expecting a 5-star luxury wellness experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but. In reality, this resort is not even a 3-star property, let alone 5. ✅ The Good ✔ Polite staff – They tried their best, but they are clearly undertrained and understaffed. ✔ Beautiful location – The serene backwater views could have been a highlight if the resort was well-maintained. ❌ The Bad 1️⃣ False Advertising 🏨 The resort is not a 5-star property. The facilities, service, and treatments are subpar. 🌿 The Ayurvedic program was poorly structured, and my prescribed medicine took 4 days to arrive, completely disrupting the detox plan. 2️⃣ Unhygienic and Neglected Facilities 🛏 Dirty rooms – Stained linens, dusty furniture, and unclean bathrooms. 🏊♂️ Private pool was dirty – The filters were off until I explicitly asked for them to be turned on. 🚿 Common areas were neglected – Bird droppings, insects, and a visible lack of maintenance everywhere. 3️⃣ Uncomfortable Accommodations 🛌 The bed was so stiff that I had trouble sleeping and woke up every morning with my whole body aching. 🚫 This is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be a luxury wellness retreat. 4️⃣ Unprofessional Service 🙅♂️ Staff lacked proper training and some struggled with English, making communication difficult. 🕷 A spider web (with what looked like a scorpion) at my doorstep took days to remove, until I finally requested it to be cleaned. 5️⃣ Unsupportive Management 📢 Management was not on top of running the operations. I felt the need to manage the staff for basic housekeeping and service. 🚨 The Ugly: I Had to Leave Early By the 5th day, I couldn’t take it anymore and left early, spending extra money to find better accommodation and treatments in Kochi. 💸 Instead of healing, I left stressed, exhausted, and financially strained. ⚠️ Final Thoughts: Avoid This Place!!! While the staff tried, the quality of the facility, cleanliness, quality of the program and poor service ruined this experience. This is not a luxury retreat, and I strongly advise against staying here…! Kerala deserves better representation than this.. 😞

ゲゲストMe and a colleague booked this resort for a 1 night stay on 18th September through MMT as part of a business meeting with a client based out of Kottayam. We were traveling from Bangalore and reached the resort at 12pm as per the check in time stated in the booking confirmation, but from reception it was told that they've recently changed the check in time to 2pm however it wasn'tcommunicated to us. After talking and waiting for about half an hour they've alloted the room. Below are our specific experience at Paradise Resort, Kumarakom: 1. Food options in the menu weren't available. Said that there is a party going on for another group, so cheff is busy with that and only limited items are available for other guests. 2. We were having a beer sitting at the varantha of our cottage. Then a staff came, said that he's the GM of the resort and told us there is a police officer and group of friends staying in the resort (two cottage after ours), so we cannot have beer in our cottage's varantha. But this group of people were enjoying drinks in front of their cottage and walking around the property with liquor. So we had a little bit of argument, and our point was ”the rule within the resort should be same for all guests.” The GM wasn't ready to accept that and behaved us in an unprofessional tone. He was often saying he's the GM, also said that they've contact with politicians, police and local leaders, so if you doesn't want to stay then you should leave. It was clear threatening and an unacceptable way of communication from a person who should be treating all customers equally. 3. Finally we complained at MMT and vacated the resort 2 hours after check-in. Even when we were leaving, the way staff and GM communicated was inappropriate. 4. After vacating, we've booked Abad Whispering Palms (a nearby resort) and stayed there overnight. It was an amazing experience at Abad and from all staffs. 5. Overall, Paradise Resort management should give some sort of hospitality training to their staffs. I believe some of the reviews they've on google or other booking platforms are paid reviews. At present this resort doesn't even qualify for a 1 star rating.
Best place in Kumarakom to stay in, had a great experience and we really felt happy with the service provided. Rooms were ultra clean and comfortable The staff were amazing and treat you like family, especially impressive service from Unni Kuttan. Truly Awesome and great experience. Highly recommend this place. Looking forward to stay here again :-) Special Thanks to the Property Manager and Front Desk staffs for being extremely professional and yet provided a homely service. Thanks
