蒼空げすとはうす(Blue Sky Guesthouse)

A great experience staying in a Japanese style accommodation. The owner very helpful and the breakfast served in room was lovely. We ordered a meal for the first night and this was delivered to our room which meant we didn't have to go out again looking for restaurants. The bus stop and Food store 5 minutes walk away, check opening times and days.

The perfect place to relax in the heart of Kumano. Close to the pilgrimage treks, to the facilities of Hongu village but discretely situated on a hilly forest edge, by a small creek. The place is perfectly clean, the food is great, the design simple on the traditional japanese way. We will definately sleep here if we come back.

We arrived slightly before check in time and they were able to check us in regardless. They were also very accomodating in helping us transfer our luggage to our next nights lodging which we very much appreciated. The room was a spacious clean Japanese style room as we had requested. We enjoyed the common room and the books, maps and other literature provided for guests. The shared kitchen and laundry seemed simple but adequate even though we did not need to use them. The location was perfect for us as the primary goal of our visit was the Kumano Kodu trail and the local bus stop was a five minute walk from this location.

Blue Sky Guesthouse was a highlight for us. The host was hospitable and the accommodation was extremely clean. Everything had been thought of. We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was especially good. Steve and Alison Australia

We stayed here one night after two days on the Nakahechi trail . The guesthouse is pleasantly located 1km along the road from Hongu to Shingu very easy to walk from the Great Tori about 200m from the bus stop on the Hongu to Shingu route. We found the place very quiet and relaxing. Room 3 was spacious with views of the forest. The en-suite bathroom and WC were very clean and a hot soak very appreciated. Evening dinner and breakfast were served in the room with delicious range of Japanese items. Breakfast included bacon, sausage, eggs, corn chowder and lovely yoghurt. There is a common area with plenty of information, a kitchenette, laundry area ( washer free, dryer ¥300 for 90mins), complimentary coffee and good internet connection. All the reviews and photos are accurate. The owner mans the whole operation and was very helpful providing information about the bus and changing notes and an early breakfast service so we caught the early bus to make the train. We would love to stay again here.

This is such a beautiful guest house where the owner is so kind and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. The breakfast and dinner are both of the highest quality and the owner goes out of his way to make guests feel welcome. I could not have been happier and this was without doubt the best place I stayed in the whole of Japan in beautiful Hongu and the surrounding Kumano Kodo region. Thank you Blue Sky Guesthouse for taking such good care of me in your beautiful home.

One of the greatest Guesthouse I have ever visited. - A bit on the pricy side if you travel alone, but you get the whole room+bathtub for yourself. Room are also very new and well maintained. - The staff has great service mind. They even come to the Guesthouse to store your luggage before the check-in (Hope they solve this issue with the suggested solution). - Website are very informative about everything around the town and they are in English. - The staff are very cautious about covid infection, so the breakfast is served in your room. Hope to visit there again.

Schön und ruhig gelgene Unterkunft in Hongu. Alles ist bestens organisiert, sauber und zweckmässig. Unser Zimmer war traditionell japanisch eingerichtet, entsprechend einfach, aber mit eigenem Bad und grosszügig bemessen. Auch wenn die Unterkunft am Rand von Hongu liegt, so sind die Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants dennoch in wenigen Gehminuten erreichbar. Es gibt auch eine Bushaltestelle sehr nahe beim Hotel, von wo die Busse nach Ukegawa oder Yunomine Onsen fahren.
