Currently staying here. I don’t normally write a review until I’ve returned home but in this instance I’ll make an exception. We arrived on Wednesday 8th May at 22.45 hrs, delayed by an hour on route. We are staying half board. We were dropped off with around 8 other guests, we were made to wait to check in as the operative behind the reception desk stated “I have to check in our all inclusive guests as they are a priority” I would have thought all guests would be the priority of the hotel? Once we had been checked in we were told we have a “free upgrade” which normally costs €70 euro per night. We are in room 611, a 6th floor suite with an additional sofa bed in it. We would much prefer some drawers for storage but the room seems to be missing this. Not enough storage for 2 peoples clothes so some have to remain in the case. Room was adequately clean, comes equipped with a kettle and a fridge. Nice size shower and well thought out space. Pleasant room but as I say needs more storage options. There is a nice sun deck outside the 6th floor with a jacuzzi which we preferred to use, mainly because there are simply not enough sun loungers around the pool to cater for everybody. The shower adjacent to the jacuzzi does not work which means people enter the jacuzzi dirty or covered in sun lotion which is apparent by the amount of oil floating on the top of the water when the jacuzzi shuts down between cycles. Some of the worst points about this place so far. Food: it’s not exactly an enjoyable dining experience. First proper sit down meal last night we have chicken breast slices cooked on the hot plate whilst we watched, however when we had it served to us and we sliced it up I think it would be classed as “medium rare” we returned it and had paella instead. Not a massive amount of choice, meatballs, chicken legs etc. Breakfast menu is as expected with this truck stop style of diner. Dishes full over cooked bacon, half cooked eggs, the usual continental type of stuff. However if you like rotted fruit there’s plenty of that on offer. Construction work: There is some very noisy construction work so going outside the hotel, and I mean right outside. So loud you can’t hear one another speak across the dining table. There are also gangs of paints climbing from balcony to balcony just chucking peoples belongings around so there can paint the balcony above. We had to request at least 4 times that they stay out of our balcony after I discovered masses of scraped off paint all over our balcony this morning. It seems the hotel simply has no respect for its guests. This is simply something you do to your guests after they have paid to stay at your venue. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they had asked or informed us this was going to be happening. I am not at all comfortable with this. I will probably update this as time moves on or after we have left but so far it’s far from the idea of the relaxing break we had hoped for. Fergus Cactus G
