SPA REVIEW ONLY - we booked a 4 hour couples massage experience which included a 60 minute massage, some sort of spiritual cleanse using herbs and incense, a sound bath, and time in a large private suite with a steam room, jacuzzi, and lounge area. The massage itself was very very poor. I always get frustrated when you book a “deep tissue” service and the masseuse applies zero pressure. The staff then automatically includes a 20% gratuity and makes you proactively ask to reduce it. Tips are optional and should reflect service experience… don’t pre populate tips please! For the extreme price tag on this spa, I would only go if you want very low pressure massages.

We enjoyed our stay for an extended weekend in Viceroy at Ombria, which felt more like living in a small Portuguese village (with luxury apartments) rather in a traditional resort. Rooms, service and restaurants at the village were top notch. We played some golf. The course has a lot of variety with beautiful scenery across the valley during many holes. If your swing is rusty, be prepared with a lot of balls though…we ended up ordering some more from caddie service towards the end. There are also other activities around with a short drive. Our choice was to try horseback riding. Thank you for the hospitality and looking forward to our next visit!

Despite the chilly weather, we had a wonderful time at Viceroy Ombria as we used this trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I was concerned our tween and teen boys wouldn't have enough to do over 6 days/5 nights, but not so. I sat the pool fully covered in fluffy towels while the boys swam in the pool and jumped between the heated pool and the "cold plunge" (not heated pool). We also opted for honey harvesting, pottery making and chocolate making workshops, which were all fabulous. Staff were fantastic and catered to all our requests. The rooms are beautifully styled and with everything brand new, we look forward to returning when the weather is warmer. I can just imagine falling asleep poolside and waking up to the beautiful views of the hills and valleys. It would have been nice if there was a driving range, as we're not confident-enough golfers to have played the course but would have definitely hit some balls at the driving range. Our first trip to Portugal wanted to stay in a luxury authentic Portuguese location, away from the built-up areas, but near enough to make use of all the Algarve has to offer. The Viceroy at Ombria did not disappoint... From the moment we arrived at this hotel, to the warm welcome, we knew we had made the right choice. The property is simply stunning with lots of locally made authentic products to give this a uniquely Portuguese feel. Our accommodation, a deluxe valley view with a balcony, was lovely, a huge bathroom with a large freestanding bath and separate shower room. The outside balcony, large, and we enjoyed our evenings, sitting out on the balcony, sipping a glass of wine watching the sunset. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the accommodations, with only a couple of rooms per floor, it is very private and quiet. Within the rooms, a huge comfy bed, lots of storage space, lots of space to store your luggage. We really loved all the high-end touch screens to control the lights and ventilation and the authentic locally sourced Portuguese products. We really enjoyed the breakfast at the Ombria Kitchen, a lovely selection of hams, cheese, pastries, and fruits, oh and the freshly squeezed orange juice, divine. We also had a couple of evening meals. They made every effort to meet our dietary requirements, and the food and service again was superb. Service from the staff throughout was excellent. They really went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasurable one. Thankyou
