We were travelling in the area, and I really wanted to visit the hotel. I rang to enquire about having breakfast. I spoke with Steve the restaurant manager and he said he could arrange tea and scones for us. On arrival the receptionist welcomed us and was expecting us. We were shown to a beautifully set table with a stunning view of the grounds and surrounding area. We were served a delicious breakfast. The food, the staff, the hotel and the area were all stunning. I cannot wait to return and stay to experience more The Torridon has to offer.

Branding for The Torridon is ‘no other place like it’. I wholeheartedly agree, nestled on the banks of beautiful Loch Torridon, it is without doubt a special place and well worth the effort on single track roads to get there. Warmly welcomed, this small perfectly formed and immaculate hotel is the perfect place to spend time. The team without exception is discreet, polite and professional. The interiors are both traditional and modern with a nod to its heritage but not twee, I loved the bold use of colour. We ate in both restaurants, each great. My husband enjoyed the whiskey bar with its vast array of choice and knowledgeable bar tender. We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the loch and the brook running alongside the hotel. Immaculate and beautifully furnished, very comfortable bed, Bamford products and fluffy towels. The surrounding area is stunning, we visited Eilean Doran castle and took a drive to Applecross, which takes you along the Atlantic coast with views across to Skye, not for the faint hearted but not to be missed. There are five star hotels and then there are five star hotels masquerading as a five star and I have been to both. The Torridon is definitely worthy of its five stars. Special mention to Hazel, Louis and Steeve. Thank you for looking after us so well, we shall return.

This hotel was pure relaxation and a quiet relaxed class about it. We had the most beautiful room with a view over the inlet. I only wish I had another night to stay and enjoy. The evening dinner of risotto was excellent and the whiskeys that evening with Louis looking after us was the perfect end to a perfect evening.

An unforgettable experience and well worth the journey made from South Manchester. Every member of staff so friendly, the warmest of welcomes, tailored local advice for day trips, and lovely food. We had no problem booking our stay, and as we were celebrating two special occasions both a birthday and 5th anniversary, we booked some extras too - flowers in the room and a guided walk up Beinn Dàmh with Torridon Outdoors - all delivered with the same outstanding personal service. In our four-day trip, we ate at 1887 once and Bo & Muc twice with different brasserie menu options each night, and happily lounged in the bar browsing the extensive gin and whisky menu with the majestic view of the sea loch. For coffees and lunch while out on day trips, we visited Shieldag (Nanny’s and Shieldaig Bar & Coastal Kitchen just short 12 mile drive), Applecross (Applecross Inn), Gairloch, Ullapool (Delicasea and West Coast Delicatessan). Local walks around the hotel easy to follow with the Torridon trail map to the kitchen garden or circular loop to the boat house and back. Too many breathtaking scenic drives to mention. Needless to say we are already planning our next trip and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Terrible. Really difficult trying to book room. No confirmation. No staff. Broken items in room that were promised to be fixed never happened. Waited ages for food? To be served. Rediculous designer food overpriced, thankfully we had brought sandwich makings!! The only thing that was timely was the bill!! These folk are taking the mickey. Not the place it used to be. Avoid at all costs

Fantastic hotel, from the time you walk through the doors,to the time you leave you get excellent service, lovely staff. The room was really good with everything you would need for your stay and the bed was so comfy,we had afternoon tea and it was well worth the money,my husband particularly liked the whiskey bar🤣 so much choice. We had also had lunch the day before in Bo & Muc Brasserie, lovely food,we had the trout which tasted really fresh. Breakfast was a bit hectic as was very busy, but worth the wait. There are loads of walks to go on around the estate too, plenty of space to park and with electric charging points. Would recommend a stay or even just food.

We have just returned from an amazing stay at The Torridon Hotel. The setting is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and have tea/coffee facilities, a Dyson hairdryer and beautiful toiletries. We stayed in room 3, which had a stunning view of the Loch and is a master room. The staff are super friendly and just smile all the time. Nothing is touch trouble We had a lovely conversation with the French barman who has been there 6 years and so gave us great knowledge on the whiskey and the local area, a truly lovely man,. Every waiter was lovely, but Gloria captured our heart, such a joy, with her massive smile and wanting to help attitude, just adorable. The service at times was a little slow due to kitchen shortages I think, but it didn't ditract from the fact the food was amazing and the staff good. The reception staff were really helpful and always ready with information and willing to have a chat. Torridon is a great location for walking, hiking, relaxing and the great outdoors, but please remember, there are no shops or real amenities for miles around and very few pubs and restaurants, on saying that, I can't wait to come back 🥰

We have been occasional visitors over the last thirty years and on this occasion stayed three nights. The hotel is now an upmarket offering with prices to match. The location is phenomenal and the building is impressive. Reception service was excellent. We stayed in room 19 which is well equipped and comfortable but lacks convenient storage space. The pillows are large and soft to the point of being suffocating, but the hotel promptly supplied smaller harder pillows at our request. The duvets are massive to match the pillows and too hot for us so we used sheets and blankets. The quality of breakfast food is excellent with a varied menu, but on one occasion service was very slow. We had dinner once in the 1887 restaurant, which only offers a tasting menu which does not change much from one evening to the next. Some of the items were excellent but others not of 3AA rosette quality, for example some servings of the monkfish dish were too salty. The main issue was painfully slow service from the kitchen, although the waiiting staff were very attentive. Our other two evening meals were in the separate Bo and Muc brasserie. I had the mussels as a main course, which were excellent. Again our meal was marred on one occasion by very slow service from the kitchen. The Bo and Muc serves upmarket food, not always successfully for us. It has basic decor and a formal atmosphere whereas the previous incarnation of the building had a lively pub atmosphere with top quality pub grub. I don't consider the change is for the better. Note that if you stay in the hotel and want to eat in the Bo and Muc you need to walk outside for several minutes to get to it and be prepared for Scottish weather and midges in summer. The Torridon is expensive and the problems with slow meal service not what would be expected , although we did get our bill reduced in compensation.

This was the second time we have visited The Torridon and both times we enjoyed excellent service. On our first visit we were unable to dine in the 1887 restaurant so decided to put that right this time. Since the dinner was the main purpose of our visit we just booked a room in the Stables. We got a very good overnight rate and found the accommodation perfect for our purpose. The meal in the 1887 was excellent. Each course was presented very professionally and my shellfish allergy was taken into account with perfect alternatives. Being off season there were only 4 other diners that night and the service from all the staff was efficient and friendly…..there were probably more staff than diners ! The chef took the time to come and talk to us and discuss the menu and how it is put together. Overall we had an excellent meal which surpassed our expectations. The only negative about our visit…..and it certainly did not detract from our overall experience …was the breakfast. It was okay but lacked the quality that I would expect in a 5 star country lodge. We have had breakfasts in similar hotels that have been excellent in taste and presentation. Unfortunately this time it had neither. The presentation was basic and underwhelming. The fruit was a bit hard and tasteless while elements of the cooked breakfast were tough eg bacon and tattie scone and black pudding. It was a shame and we may have just been unlucky. I would certainly recommend the hotel as an excellent choice for a break in the Highlands. The location is peaceful and the scenery amazing. All the staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel warm and welcoming….the crackling log fires being a highlight. The choice of whiskies is also amazing……took me a while to choose my tipple!
