The location is fantastic, as previously mentioned and rooms have terraces, which are a great place to sit and relax with a cold beer. We arranged a Tuk-Tuk tour with Kajan from the Cottages and he showed us around the area, which was really interesting to get off the beach and see the local life and culture in Trincomalee. Lots of options for snorkeling/diving/dolphin watching available. The beach is clean and staff are helpful with everything you need. Choice of restaurants within a short walk. The restaurant attached to the hotel is convenient but there are better options off the beach (Rice & Curry was a winner every time). The staff are very helpful and the area feels very safe. We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Beach Cottages and would go back in heart beat.

Stayed 3 nights at this brilliant place, right on the golden beach at Trincomallee. We stepped straight from our bungalow onto the sands and had the best view over the sparkling water. What a treat! The beach bar/restaurant was right there, serving tasty brekkie, snacks and drinks all day and dinner in the evening. You could dine in the beach by candlelight. While not gourmet, the food was good and tasty and the staff were fun and friendly. The room was large, the bed was huge and comfortable and the ensuite, while basic, had hot water and a good shower. It was interesting to watch the local fishermen casting out their huge circular net, then dragging it ashore later in a well practised, very rhythmical routine. There are also more bars and restaurants along the beach should you want variation. Great choice for a few days relaxation.

Fantastic location with a view (rooms 1 and 2). 5 types of breakfast (from the list). Restaurant. Close to other restaurants - 7 minutes on foot. Daily cleaning (outside). Next to the diving center. A good place to relax and explore Trincomalee (15 minutes by tuk tuk to the city center). Uber won't pick up from there :) Try to get to the main road and take a tuk tuk.

This is the best place in Trinco. Nice to stay here by yourself or with a family. When you are sitting in front of your room you can see the ocean. Everybody is very friendly. Food is very very good and you get all what you want at any time. I love this place. That’s why I come again and again.

Amazing time at the golden beach cottage. Warm welcome specially for our kids from the chief manager and Aru. Thanks to them for taking care of us. The family room are big and clean we had a view on the beach

Not only is this place overpriced with 50$ per night, it was also the WORST experience of our whole trip. It was our last stay and we've slept EVERYWHERE in whole Sri Lanka better for less than HALF the money. It is not possible to lock the door properly, the room smells like pee, the sheets were DIRTY, the mattress and pillows were FILTHY, there is ONLY COLD WATER, the toilet is falling apart and everything else also, the towels were of such bad quality that we were covered in white fluff after showering, the bathroom was NOT CLEAN and there was still trash from the guests before in the bin. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!

Spent a wonderful week in Golden Beach with my family (three kids), ideal for exploring North East Sri Lanka beaches. Family room fit for the purpose, clean, was comfortable for 5. On request staff is cleaning the room. We asked for breakfast, where you have also Sri Lanka breakfast option if you are full of omletts already. Direct connection to the ocean, 50m from your door… Very friendly staff, special thanks to Emil for his everyday service around our breakfast :)

My husband and l had the most relaxing stay at Golden beach cottages. The location is absolute beach front in Trincomalee. 🏝️ The rooms are very clean and the beds so comfortable. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, especially the manager Roga

We recently stayed at Golden Beach Cottages for 5 nights and absolutley loved it there. As we stepped off the terrace outside our room we were on the beach which was clean and just beautiful. There are quite a few dogs on the beach which were friendly and well behaved . We ended up feeding them daily, would love to have brought them home with us ! The Cottages are quite basic but reasonably clean, had air con and a fridge,considering how cheap they were we felt they were good value for money . The staff were all very friendly and helpful , especially Arun who worked in the restaurant/bar Tonics which is adjoined to the Cottages . Arun was very attentive, always smiling and usually greeted us with a song!

I actually never went, However my Grandpa (Vinayagasothy), used to own this cottage, before it was renovated back, before the tsunami struck in 2004, my dad was running it at the time, and my parents, grandparents and relatves where their when it struck, so Thank you, for making it look amazing, my mom came to Canada after the Tsunami, sad that she lost that amazing cottage, so thank you for making it look amazing

Locatie is geweldig, wij hadden huisje 1 is direct aan het strand. De kamer is heel ruim. Alle beddengoed en handdoeken waren ook schoon. Wel veel achterstallig onderhoud, dat is echt jammer van zo een mooie locatie. De douchekop hing los, evenals de toilet bril. Er is geen poetsbeurt hoewel wij er 4 nachten verbleven. Op zich was dat voor ons geen probleem. We kregen gelijk nieuwe handdoeken toen we er om vroegen. We hebben 3 dagen daar ontbeten was prima. Het uitzicht is geweldig. Verder zit je overal super dichtbij; 5 minuten over het strand lopen naar Fernando’s en on the 18th . Kortom als je niet. Teveel luxe maar wel een prachtig uitzicht wilt dan kun je dit prima boeken. Weet dat het SriLanka is

Lakens vies, handdoeken vies, geen schoonmaak tussendoor, geen zeepjes, om toiletrol moet je vragen. Badkamer is een aangeplakte vieze container. Je staat boven de wc te douchen. Alles zit los, koude douche, wifi doet het niet, harde muziek hele dag en avond met harde beat. Restaurant heeft nieuwe eigenaar, dus restaurant wat vroeger Tonics heette is weg. Ontbijt is een aangebrande worst met gebakken ei. Of wit droog brood met jam voor 5 dollar. Onpersoonlijk personeel. Ga er niet heen, want het verpest je verblijf in Trincomalee

Un seul point positif : la vue sur la plage et l’océan. Pour le reste, c’est une honte! Chambre familiale avec des murs en carton pâte, une salle de bain comme on en trouve dans un camping car… en moins bien (murs et sol en plastique avec des trous, pas d’eau chaude, une odeur nauséabonde). Le premier soir, nous avons dû réclamer des draps de dessus. Il n’y avait qu’un drap housse sur chacun des deux lits. Enfin, les serviettes de toilettes peluchaient tellement que nous avons dû demander à les changer. Le tout pour 90$/nuit à régler en espèces uniquement. Lamentable !

Como alojamiento es pésimo, habitación súper sucia, con hormigas y llena de arena, la localización es muy buena y el personal muy agradable. Así que si vienes en plan mochilero está es una buena opción, si deseas algo más de comodidad quizá no es lo más adecuado.
