Good things:
*The view from the window is nice, that we could see the mountains from outside.
*The room is spacious.
*Good weather
*The first hotel staff who accommodated us is kind and friendly. The other lady is not, doesn't even know how to smile.
*The housekeepers are kind and they could give us our daily needs such as water, trash bags and slippers. They even initiated to clean our room.
Bad Experiences:
*We didn't expect that the hotel location is a bit far from the downtown.
*Heater is bad or not working. Water is too cold to take a shower.
*The toilet is not clean.
*Breakfast is not delicious. We only tried on the first day so we stopped buying their breakfast meal.
*The hotel is noisy. Other guests, like children, were running at the corridor even during wee hours. People talk so loudly. For two nights, we didn't have a good sleep.
*This is the worst thing that happen. We are aware that the protocol for all hotels is to register all guests in the public security bureau, whether you're a local or a foreigner. This hotel accepts guests from other countries as well, that's why I booked this hotel. But they said this is their first time to encounter foreigners staying in their hotel. The hotel staff took our passports when we arrived (Mine is a visa receipt. I don't have my passport.) We thought everything was okay, but I had a doubt that she didn't register us because she only checked our identity document.
*On our third day at the hotel, this lady hotel staff and a man knocked on our door. They said that my husband's visa is expired, and I don't have my passport, so they wanted us to leave. We were in shocked! His visa is not expired and it's still valid for a year. They made a mistake, mistake on not checking my husband's passport. I don't have my passport because it's in the entry-exit department public security bureau in Taiyuan since it's still on the process for visa renewal. What I have is a visa receipt with a red stamp which can be used as an alternative for my passport. That's a nationwide China policy. It seems that they don't know anything, especially for foreigners.
*They were trying to register us on our third day, but they couldn't. They said it's troublesome. That was really annoying. And I am sure they were thinking that we are illegal. No. We have been living in China for many years and we are legal workers with legal work visas. We have been travelling a lot.
We waited for them for more than an hour to register us but they couldn't. It was already evening and we were already late to where we were going. And they also told us to wait for 10 more minutes because the police officers were coming to check us. But nobody came. That was really annoying. They wasted our time.
*On our fourth day, this same man knocked on our door again in the morning. We were still sleeping when we heard him knocking. He wanted to take our document again and make a copy then would hand over to the police. This is ridiculous. He asked if we have visa. He asked for many times. How many times should we tell that we have valid visas?They kept on asking us for our identity documents, and he even took my wechat to send him pictures of my passport and visa. Why do you keep on asking for our passports and visa, knocked on our door three times, when you could have taken the copy on the first day we arrived? For two days, we were disturbed by this knocking. I could see from his face he was a bit mad about this. It's not our fault to bother you from your job.
*I chose this hotel because it's affordable but rooms are okay. I chose this hotel because you accept foreigners as what is stated from the booking APP I used. Next time, don't implement this hotel policy if you don't know anything about registration of foreign guests and then tell them to leave when you can't. That's really a bad management.
Therefore, I don't recommend this hotel especially for foreign guests. 😡
