I would have preferred being notified of the water crisis in Umhlanga prior to arriving at the Guest House as there was no running water at the establishment! No alternative arrangements were made, I ended up having to leave to stay at a hotel at Gateway Shopping Centre which had running water.

Travelling with family and friends we stayed here for 5 nights. The location is beautiful and very safe. The hosts, Hazel and Ash , were very helpful and gave us tips on where to go ( and also where to avoid) . The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well presented and beds very comfortable.

Friendly, accommodating and helpful staff. Perfectly located for ease of access to everything you might require, including restaurants and beach. Tranquil surrounding in a busy town. Perfect venue to unwind after a busy day. Rooms are very comfortable and well maintained

Always such a pleasure to stay here. It’s my favourite accommodation for Umhlanga. The ocean facing rooms have beautiful views and the staff are friendly and polite. A great choice if you want to stay by the beach in Durban.

Beautiful décor, warm welcome and fantastic breakfast. The place was clean, a short walk away from the beach while still centrally located for restaurants and shopping. My wife and I will definitely be back!

During our visit there was a serious breach of security when an intruder entered a guest bedroom in the early morning hours .Evidently this was not an isolated incident. This episode left us severely vulnerable and we decided to leave immediately and seek alternative accommodation .

Excellent accommodation, beautifully appointed and such a lovely alternative to big hotels. "We arrived as strangers but left as friends", Hazel & Ashley were fabulous hosts, they were friendly and so very helpful. The staff were very good and everything was seamless.

My husband & I have just left Sandals after a thoroughly relaxing & most enjoyable stay. It’s called a guesthouse but I’d say boutique hotel is more apt. Our room on the upper floor was called Oyster. It was perfect. Absolutely pristine, spacious & with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bathroom was beautiful, very recently remodelled by the look of it. Nice toiletries too. The huge balcony with sea views was delightful to have early morning coffee or a sundowner. Breakfast was very tasty, a varied menu with a couple of specials every day. Nice fresh juice & fruit, cold cuts & cheese, bread, cereals & yogurt. Hot food to order came from the kitchen. Ashley & Hazel are very welcoming, friendly & helpful hosts. Their staff were very good too. Housekeeping couldn’t be faulted. Service at breakfast was always prompt too. The pool area is very inviting with super comfortable loungers & easy chairs for having coffee or a cold drink. An excellent location just a 5 minute walk from some really nice restaurants & bars. All in all we would return in a heartbeat. It fitted our brief perfectly. Umhlanga Rocks is just perfect for a chilled beach/pool break. Thank you.

Great place, lovely decor, large, comfortable room with balcony with sea views. Nice pool area. Hazel and Ashley are fabulous hosts, helpful and welcoming. Good breakfast with buffet and freshly cooked "full English". Great location, Chartwell is road where all bars and restaurants are just a few minutes walk plus only one road away from beach and promenade. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back. Would highly recommend.
