Strategic location where you can experience both Varenna and take the ferry to Bellagio. Worth for short travelling stay in couples.

Nice welcome by the receptionist, who explained me they do have a way for check in people afre 8 pm, which is the limit written , and repeated by phone by another employee... so i run for nothing. Hotel in in the very center, with no wiew. Room is extremely spartan, with some attempt to show a bit of comfort : there is the boiler for the tea, there are few amenities in the bathroom... but the tiny desk if fully occupied by this stuff, and there is not even a chair, neither a might table aside the tiny bed. The look is depressive. wifi working pretty well. breakfast acceptable with a bit of everything . For what is given, price is excessive.... but this is the song in all the village

We are traveling for 2 weeks in Italy and our stay here was was very disappointing. On a positive note the staff was friendly and helpful and the location was convenient to the ferry and train station. There is a laundry close by which we used. However the rooms were clean but spartan. There was about 12” between the end of the bed and the wall. No desk chair, no lobby, lots of stairs both inside and out to manage without help with luggage or an elevator. Breakfast was just average and not available until 8 am. Over all feel of rooms was frankly depressing.

The most hospitable place ever!! We did not stay overnight but had a coffee and everyone who looked after us were so polite! It is also super close to the train station and so convenient to access the city centre. About a 10 minute walk from the gardens! Thank you, would definitely recommend!!

WARNING THIS HOTEL IS CLOSED. Booked for 2 nights 15-17 February 2024 arrived to find it deserted, empty, shut down. Did not answer phone. Fortunately had not paid and found another. Panic however turned out to us finding a beautiful hotel right on the shores of Lake Como.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location, which is excellent. However, our room had black mold throughout the bathroom and sleeping area (see pictures). The reception says it’s open 8am-8pm, but multiple times when we went to go there it was locked and no one was around. Including upon our arrival around 3pm. We waited outside for 10 minutes and we had to call for someone to come, this is inconvenient as I’m sure not everyone has cellular while abroad to make calls. The plugs in our room weren’t working one morning so I told reception, and nothing was done until I asked again around 5 pm when we got back from our day and noticed. Breakfast is ok. This is more of a hostel then hotel. Bed is comfortable though. The male receptionist is more helpful than the female.

Beware! Bait and switch! We paid for the Montecodeno 3 star hotel and upon arrival we were walked down the block to hotel Baretta, a 1 star hotel.. broken toilet, no towel hooks. All broken off of the wall. Had to leave towels on floor or on toilet when not using. Had to walk up the street for breakfast during drizzly mornings. Broken elevator. Hotel blamed it on the travel agency for separating us from our adult children who were placed in the original hotel.! The pro: good breakfast and coffee.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Montecodeno, while the room are basic, they were clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is good, very close to the ferry port and train station. The buffet breakfast exceeded my expectations for such a small hotel. Matteo and the lady (who I didn't get the name of) at front desk were both really friendly and helpful, such as getting us an umbrella when it was raining without asking and giving us directions.

Excellent location, breakfast and the Desk Attendant (young man) was wonderful and always helpful.
