We really enjoyed our 2 nights in the Gjelina. The location is ideal for LAX transfers and for exploring Venice Beach and Santa Monica. The hotel itself was really lovely and offered a welcome sanctuary at the end of busy days exploring. The croissants, jams and coffee in the morning are excellent quality and the service was friendly and welcoming. We fell in love with Venice Beach and walked to the amazing canals, Abbot Kinney blvd and to Santa Monica easily from this location... and the jewel in the crown is the ocean which is right on the doorstep.. stunning!

There are some very nice things about this hotel - a very comfortable bed, clean spaces, super nice staff. There are two types of rooms - all of the "standard" rooms are along one short hallway that leads into the lobby. The rooms are quite small, but for one person it's plenty of space. We were two people, though, and it was a challenge with some additional hiking gear for each of us. But the problem with these rooms isn't the size but the very thin walls on either side. It's an old building and when it was renovated I'm sure they did what they could, but we could clearly hear the neighbors conversation at midnight when they returned. The conversation was at normal volume levels, but the walls must be very thin. There are TV's in each room, though thankfully neither neighbor used them the two nights we were there, though the one couple had a long conversation a few inches from our pillows! The staff were great about seeing if we could move to one of the suites, which are larger, upstairs and configured such that the bedrooms were not connected to neighboring rooms. The suites are awesome, very spacious with a kitchenette and seating area, and we had one of the smaller ones (20). Unfortunately across the alley from the hotel is a bar that plays extraordinarily loud music beginning around noon and going until 10 pm on the weekends (I think 9pm other days). We could hear the music even through the closed windows, but there were no other rooms to move to.. After scouting out the hotel, there are probably a few that might be quieter (22, 23). You'd still hear the bar music but possibly not in the bedroom. If you go to sleep after 10 pm or don't take mid-day naps, it's a really nice hotel and again, those beds were sublime, the place spotless and the workers there above and beyond helpful.

Stayed here for 3 nights. It is perfectly situated right near Venice beach with nearby restaurants. No problem getting here with Taxi and bus trips picked up outside. It's spotlessly clean and well maintained. Amenities include TV, shower, basin and hot water always available for tea/coffee making in reception area. Cold water is filtered and drinkable. The bed and linen are good quality and comfy. No problems with noise, although there were even ear plugs available. Freshly baked Croissants are available with jam and tea coffee and juice every morning. The Croissant are delicious and provided by their sister bakery nearby . There is also a linked cafe and grocery store in walking distance. The food in the cafe was delicious too. There is a fabulous roof terrace which wraps around the building with views of the beach and street. Comfy seats and tables for soaking up some sun if you have time. The staff are brilliant. Always friendly, ready to assist with advice and help with any problems. I'd stay here again and can recommend it as a perfect base to explore.

This beachfront boutique hotel offers a pleasant experience for guests. The standard rooms, though compact, feature high-quality linens and comfortable amenities. Despite its proximity to the beach, the environment is relatively quiet; earplugs and a white noise machine are provided for additional comfort. Breakfast is served daily in the common area, consisting of coffee, juice, and gourmet croissants, with the option to enjoy your meal on the ocean-view terrace. The staff are exceptional—Jay efficiently handled check-in and shared useful recommendations for dining and local massage services. During my time in the lobby, I observed Eric assist guests and manage calls with meticulous attention and comprehensive knowledge of the area. Access to the lobby requires a room key, as the front desk is not continually staffed; however, a security officer is present during evening hours.

Staff very friendly and location is great. Parked in a lot 2 blocks away for $25 overnight. The ones close to the beach were $45. The deluxe queen room (No.14) was very small and rather dark as the window overlooked an alley way so there was no natural light. It was impossible to walk down the side of the bed as the gap between the bed and the wall was too narrow and I banged my ankles on the base of the bed a couple of times before deciding that crawling up the bad from the bottom was a safer option! The shower was great but as it’s a wet room design there was no way of stopping the water getting on the floor in front of the toilet so we ended up having to mop the floor with spare towels. Personally I think the room would be ideal for one person but not ideal for a couple. However as we were only staying for one night the location outweighed the inconvenience. The lobby area had a hot tap so we were able to make coffee but there are no fridges in the room. Overall a good stay but the suites are probably better if you are staying more than one night.

Really nice, friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere and just a short walk to the beach. There are plenty of local restaurants within easy walking distance, plus there's good public transport connectivity to other areas on the city.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel! Eric and Adrian were warm and welcoming upon our arrival. The room was gorgeous with a soothing palate while the decor transported me to an Eastern European guesthouse in the 1920s, but with all the modern conveniences. The beds were a dream, and the fresh country sourdough loaf paired beautifully with delicious loose leaf tea. Despite being right off of Venice Beach and walkable to Abbot Kinney, we never heard any street noise. Truly, a gem in Venice!
