ホテル・ベルヴィディア(Hotel Belvidere)

This place was super unique. We’ve never stayed at a privately owned hotel so we weren’t really sure what to expect. The area felt generally safe to us, we even walked around the neighborhood at night to look at all the Halloween decorations. It’s easy to find and easy to get to. It definitely has that old timey Grandma feel when you walk in the front door. They do not check in after 9 unless you have permission to do so. We received a text on our way up there to remind us of that. (We were able to tack on a day at the beginning of our trip when we called them on our drive up there.) Just a few things that we made note of- there is a staircase to the back entrance to the upstairs and a staircase in the front as well. I’m not sure how easy it would be for people to go in and out if they have issues with steps, so keep that in mind and check with the hotel about accommodations for that or if they have first floor rooms. Our door had a lock but I would have liked there to be a latch as well, like most hotels have- just to have peace of mind. They had vertical blinds but no curtains in our room. For safety reasons alone, even if the area seemed okay, I would have liked that extra security. We never really saw anyone until we came looking for new towels, which was taken care of right away. You have to request room service if you’d like to have that. You get a key for your hotel room along with a key to get in the front and back entrance. Parking was easy, they have a nice large blacktopped area. We had to pay up front for the days we were scheduled and you need to keep in mind, no refunds if you cancel without a 48 hr notice.

The hotel had great promise. The architecture is beautiful, but the property is woefully understaffed. We waited for 5 to 10 minutes for someone to come to the office so we can check in. There was no bell or phone number to call. The bed in the room was uncomfortable and sagging in the middle.

Wow! Color me impressed. Bed was firm and comfortable. Room was very clean. Well restored hotel. Warm and cozy. BIG rooms. Wifi works well. Great value for the price. Nice to find a hotel thats well kept and up to date in the tiny town of Belvidere!

Nice historic hotel with alot of charm. Marina was very helpful on phone directing me to place on phone and I got there in a timely manner. I needed the help beause my cell phone was running out of charge. I liked the room and comfy beds and shower and bath supplies. TV showed great PBS concerts all night so was entertained Brit Pink Floyd music. Trying continental breakfast this morning.

This was our fourth stay at the Hotel Belvidere. The hotel recently changed hands with the somewhat controversial owner moving on. The level of service remained the same. The room was clean and comfortable as in the past. I don’t think the new owners were present but there was staff on hand. We were happy that the hotel was essentially unchanged. It does appear that the new owners are expanding the use of the building. There are larger rooms on the lower level that could accommodate meetings or other events. It seems the new owners are seeing the opportunity in the area. The only thing I could recommend would be with the breakfast offerings. More single serve condiments would be an improvement. The new owners do have more continental breakfast offerings than in the past. We were pleased, as in the past, with the stay.

Such a nice cute old hotel. Felt like we were stepping back in time. Clean, super friendly and tastefully decorated. Would highly recommend!

The place is quite nice, the staff was "top" of the bunch. The town is completely charming complete with friendly locals.

Beautiful hotel and lovely town. Highly recommend this hotel. There was a new Thai restaurant in town that was delicious as well.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the beds were soft and very comfortable. Everything was clean and the room was off in a nice private part of the hotel which was nice since we were there for our anniversary.
