バラクーダ イン リゾート(Barracuda Inn Resort)

The setting is very nice: good beach in front of the hotel, walking distance to town, the rooms are nice or even superb (rooms at seaside), and the owner as well as staff were extremely friendly. The small bay in front of the hotel is actually like a big natural swimmingpool.

Stay was great, amazing tour safari with Rama Russo Very nice location and people working there are always nice. For the excursions we relied on Rama Russo, (Rama Safari Kenia su Facebook) amazing service and price and we had an unforgettable safari in Tsavo EST, Rama always treat you as a friend rather than his customer. He is very well organised and takes pride in what he does, he will make you feel like at home.

So, my family and I made a reservation at barracuda inn at Watamu for the December holidays. We set off to Watamu and arrived at about 6 pm. Upon checking into the room, shock on us, the bathroom had a stench of pee..very strong stench actually. I had to spray my designer perfume in the room to kill the smell. I opted to check out the next morning because of the bad experience and the non functioning Air condition. As we were checking out we registered our disappointment with the reception who informed the owner who suggested to make a partial refund of 50%. We left for our new destination disappointed and then started the cat and mouse game by Barracuda to honor that which they had suggested to refund. At some point, we were asked to reach out to *********** as that is the platform through which we made the reservation from but alas, they were non responsive to ***********. Guess what, *********** actually advised that we should rate the facility and review the experience I had with my family.

It must have been fantastic when first built and the main areas inc the bar and breakfast room still look great. The rooms and bathrooms look very tired. Clean but very worn. The breakfast is excellent.

We booked 2 nights here without reading the reviews first, after reading we were a bit nervous it wouldn't be a great experience but we were very pleasantly surprised. Very warm welcome from the hotel owner, juice and biscuits on arrival. Our room was a ground floor quad room very close to the pool. Great location in middle of Watamu with beach access. Sea views from the restaurant. Breakfast was included which was a selection of pastries, fruit, and egg station. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was big, clean and had a veranda. Pool had a jacuzzi like area which our kids liked to play in. Pool was clean and had shady spots in hide from the sun. It was never busy which we loved. Feel that previous bad reviews of this hotel do not reflect its current state. Will note that we didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel though as we wanted to experience local seafood places.

Bellissima struttura, gestita molto bene, ottima cucina. Spiaggia stupenda ed è vicina alle spiagge più belle. Se si vuole andare al mare Consiglio di visitare Garoda ci vuole veramente poco per raggiungerla basta prendere un tuc tuc… Consiglio anche di fare il Safari con Patrick che si trova anche qui su Tripadvisor.

Abbiamo alloggiato in questo resort a cavallo tra marzo a aprile, in un periodo di bassa stagione. Devo dire che ci siamo trovati benissimo, probabilmente anche grazie al fatto che non era assolutamente affollato. Personale estremamente gentile, camere sempre pulite e reception attiva anche di notte. Il resort è popolato principalmente da italiani, motivo per il quale l'animazione (a cui bisogna fare grandi complimenti) è in italiano, così come il cibo servito è molto in linea con le nostre usanze (che per i curiosi è un malus) e molto buono. Anche la posizione è ottima in quanto è comodissimo per tutte le escursioni ed è nel cuore del paesino di Watamu (in cui si può passeggiare senza pericolo, solamente alcune persone innocue che vogliono venderti cose). La pecca principale sta nell'acqua da bere in quanto non è permesso "fare scorta" con quella del soft all inclusive disponibile fino alle ore 23, quasi obbligandoti a pagare se vuoi bere acqua dalla bottiglia in camera. Un'altra pecca sta nel wifi che costa 10€ a dispositivo per un servizio non particolarmente efficiente (dopotutto le infrastrutture africane sono quello che sono). Per chi volesse stare nel resort facendo così poche escursioni e tanto mare (cosa poco consigliata visti i posti fantastici da visitare) lo sconsiglio in quanto la spiaggia è carina, ma inferiore in termini di bellezza rispetto ad altri resort come quelli a Garoda Beach. In conclusione, non aspettatevi un resort super sfarzoso e lussuoso come accade in altri posti nel mondo, ma un resort comodo, strategico e allo stesso tempo carino e confortevole (dopotutto a pochi chilometri dal resort le persone vivono in case di fango quindi è bello che non sia estremamente lussuoso). Nota finale sulle escursioni: noi le abbiamo fatte con Fragola (con cui ci siamo trovati alla grande), ma in loco è pieno zeppo di ragazzi in spiaggia e piccole aziende che propongono escursioni di ogni tipo.

Siamo stati qui io ed il mio ragazzo a marzo. Abbiamo trovato la stanza sempre pulita e fresca, buffet nella norma, unica pecca è che l’acqua nei bottiglioni non era mai fresca e per il caldo che c’era , sarebbe stato ottimo avere almeno bottiglie al tavolo fresche (senza doverle pagare in più). Caffè e drink sono esclusi dal prezzo e quello secondo me potrebbero evitarlo. Consiglio di fare la sim in aeroporto o dove è possibile in quanto il Wi-Fi non prende se non in solo due zone e prende male. Prenotate le escursioni da beach boys in quanto si riesce a risparmiare qualcosa. Abbiamo trovato una bella compagnia e del resto è stata un’ottima vacanza.
