Positives Good bed, clean room, large room, daily towel change, ample parking, views, Negatives All round fawlty towers experience The owner was inflexible when asked about basic needs. My wife is visually impaired so we asked if it was possible to have breakfast on one of the tables by the window each day as the rest of dining area was quite dark. She said that she wouldn’t guarantee that. The landing lights that led to our room were often not on so we asked if it was possible to have them on so that my wife could see the stairs. She said that they were on a timer. When questioned about changing the timer as the lights were randomly on and off over the next couple of days she said that we should tell her what time we leave our room and return and she will turn on the light when needed. I would have been happy to pay the extra few cents to run an led lightbulb all day but that wasn’t going to change her approach. We were offered a smaller room on a lower floor which was darker than the one we had instead of leaving the light on for us. Breakfast choices were limited and asking to mix items on the menu was met with a frosty response. Even changing our drink order (tea or coffee) or toast order day by day seemed to be met with disapproval. The shower in the room was next to a sloping roof so it was tricky to climb in and out of. As you can see, our issues are more about the owners than the property, to the point where it was easier to avoid any discussions due to the frosty unhelpful responses. Also if you have any access needs be prepared to wind your watch back 50 years on arrival as any slightly off piste simple request will be frowned upon.
