We really enjoyed our stay here over the bank holiday weekend. Our room gorgeous and always cleaned to a great standard every day. The bathroom was incredible with the jacuzzi spa bath! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Breakfast was good and the cocktails at the bar were delicious! Definitely the most luxurious and friendly hotel in Windermere - we will definitely be returning!

Far from a 5 star hotel rooms nice but bathroom layout awkward no pool no spar no lifts no disabled facility, bar and restaurant closed on a Sunday main door locked it was rare to see any staff breakfast was sparce bacon was tasteless and extremely dry evening meal in restaurant was nice wouldn't stay here again due to lack of amenities a

We really enjoyed our high tea here. The sandwiches were very tasty, the scones with jam & clotted cream were excellent and the little cakes and pastries were delicious. Friendly staff and a lovely tastefully decorated venue. We recommend without hesitation.

Had an amazing few nights at applegarth. Rooms were kitted out with mod-cons and really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our evening meal was also lovely with a good menu to pick from. Would recommend!

The Applegarth is first class in accommodation and service. I and My wife recently stayed 3 nights in a wonderful suite at the hotel, and it was perfect. From the moment you enter the hotel to the moment you leave, you feel welcome, you are looked after, and the hotel is of a high standard. Check in was fluent, we were shown to our suite (Great How Suite) and was then shown around and how the coffee machine works, access points, the electronic controls and switches for the curtains , lights etc, and the Jacuzzi obviously. We enjoyed early evening drinks in a very well stocked Bar on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed, and you are waited on with charm, suggestion of drinks and convivial chat. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our 2nd evening and again, the Chef and his team produce fine food from local suppliers, my steak was flavoursome and cooked to perfection. The breakfast was a standout for myself and my wife, cooked to order each morning, and just so so satisfying in, flavour, quality and variety, nothing is too much trouble, and the tables are set for couples to enjoy amazing views of the mountains, while enjoying a hearty and satisfying breakfast. The suites have multiple "smart" televisions, so you can enjoy "home from home" comforts and viewings which again is not often a case with chain hotels. I cannot recommend the Applegarth high enough for enjoying a special stay yes you will find cheaper stays, but if you want to spoil yourself in a beautiful part of the world then you should consider staying here.

Absolutely amazing from arrival to departure, nothing was too much trouble, it was lovely that the property is advertised as independent & family run, it is exactly that, all of the owners take the time to chat to their guests. Being their 22nd anniversary of owning Applegarth villa I asked to see pictures of the building when they first purchased, Suzanne showed me some pictures and they should be very proud of what they have achieved. I’d love to see an album on our next visit - perhaps in reception for guests to flick through? Every single member of staff or member of the family were fantastic, there is an amazing team and family vibe at this hotel. Ellie was very attentive during the evening dinner service & it was lovely that everything was relaxed and not overly formal. The other young lady (sorry I didn’t catch her name) during Saturday evenings dinner service was very polite and has clearly been taught very well. Seriously well done to all involved. Ross the head chef is extremely talented, the quality of the dishes he produces is second to none. I’m not a chef by any stretch but he seriously deserves some recognition for his talent, AA Rosette? Michelin star perhaps? Cannot wait to return to this genuine, family establishment.

This is an amazing very friendly hotel which Iv frequented quite a few times now. The breakfasts are fantastic with plenty of choice. Iv had numerous rooms over the years and they have all been beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody looking to stay in Windermere. There is also plenty of parking spaces.

We have just had 4 nights at the Applegarth hotel and it has to be the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The room was lovely, very comfortable and all the staff very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and the food is second to none. This hotel and restaurant come very highly recommended, book this hotel and you will not be disappointed, it will exceed your expectations.

We ate at the restaurant after a long tiring walk. A decent bottle of wine and good sizes starters of roasted cauliflower soup and pan fried trout, then mains of haddock and leek gnocci and a lentil ragu. Full of flavour, especially the fish dish, and good sized portions again. We left, full and happy. A perfect meal and a good price.
