We stayed here for 2 nights and would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay. It’s approximately a 15 minute walk from the city centre and is in a nice quiet setting. There are 12 rooms over 4 floors all beautifully decorated, the staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too big a task for them. The breakfast is amazing and I highly recommend anyone staying there to ensure they have it. Will definitely stay there again!

Stayed here for a night and it was very plesant. The hotel is around 15 minutes walk from the train station. We were mainly served by Johannes (if we are not mistaken) and he is very helpful and friendly. The room is immaculate and nicely decorated. The breakfast was delicious. We were told that the ingredients are mainly locally sourced and we could tell that they are fresh. Would definitely consider staying at New Holgate again if we are visiting York again.

Stayed here for one night when going to York races, Had a lovely stay the hotel was very clean and the staff where very helpful and attentive Rooms where clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable, Had breakfast and it was very tasty and fresh

I went and stayed at New Holgate with my wife and I can honestly say that from the rooms to the staff and breakfast, it was fantastic. The room was beautiful, the beds were comfortable and it really felt like a home away from home where we had access to Netflix etc on the television. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very attentive if we had a request. They even mapped out a route for us to explore York on the second day! The breakfast was fantastic, thank you chef! I would definitely recommend New Holgate for anyone looking to stay in York.

Amazing host and room was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay would definately come again :) Was close to york centre and lots of things around including food and a local shop. Car parking around the back was useful but not overly big if you were to stay during busier times. We went during the week so was quiet.

I cannot fault anything from our stay here. The staff were so accommodating and polite - they could not do enough for us during our stay. The room was spacious, the mattress and bedding were fresh and comfortable. The decor was bright and elegant. Food was of generous portion size, locally sourced and cooked beautifully. This little boutique has changed my opinion on smaller hotels - I will definitely opt for boutique hotels over chain moving forward. We will be back!

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for my wife's birthday .Staff Emily and Gess very friendly and could not do enough for us we were upgraded to a suite nice comfortable bed, very quiet even though there was a very busy road out front. The room could do with more storage space ie; wardrobe and chest of draws as we had to leave our clothes in our suitcase. Excellent breakfast great Chef he was very friendly and came out to talk with us. The only gripe is I was not aware of the charge for parking at the back of the hotel as there was nothing on the hotel website. We would definitely stay again. Thank you again Gess.

Fabulous Hotel, with Chic modern styling and traditional features. Our room was very well designed and the bed was very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was really delicious and the Chef was amazing. All the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and made our visit very memorable. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Wonderful hotel. The staff are so friendly and really go above and beyond. We brought our 5 month old baby and we were really looked after and felt very safe here. The hotel is decorated beautifully. We got breakfast and everything was really fresh and delicious. We would definitely return. We got some great recommendations for places to eat in York from the staff. A lovely weekend in York staying here. Thanks so much to all the staff! Walking distance into York.

Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, particularly the hotel manager. The room was really nicely decorated and very cosy. It was exceptionally clean. It’s at a convenient location, close to station.

I had an excellent stay. The modest frontage of the New Holgate belies the very stylish accommodation you’ll encounter within - it’s been beautifully made over, using well considered, quality furnishings & fittings. My room was fairly spacious, with a comfy bed, ample sockets & chic decor. A request for as much natural light as possible was noted & fulfilled, the room allocated having a lovely big bay window. My stay was brief so I didn’t get to experience breakfast, or the little bar. Staff were outstandingly helpful & friendly. Reception is manned 24/7. A further bonus of the hotel is its sizeable car park, a godsend in York. Spaces can be pre-booked & are charged out at £12.50 per night.

This is a very nice boutique town house hotel just slightly outside the town centre but within walking distance of the main attractions in York. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are light and comfortable. There is a good breakfast available and restaurants are within easy reach for lunch and dinner. Parking is available at the back of the hotel which is a big plus. Will come here again when we visit York,

I booked this hotel as a last minute getaway for my fiancées 30th. We were absolutely thrilled with the hotel. It is like a small guesthouse, beautifully decorated rooms, fair prices and extremely attentive staff. The hotel was quiet when we went as it was out of season (January) but nothing was ever too much to ask for. We would chat with the receptionist often as we would go out and they would recommend places to go. It isn't a long walk into the centre of York either or a Uber was quite reasonable. We definitely would return and thank you to all the staff on shift during the 18-20th January for making our stay so relaxing 💗

Excellent boutique hotel, the star attractions were the friendliness and helpfulness of Gessica and her staff throughout our stay, the tasty breakfast (the chef was Italian which explains a lot!) and the excellent shower! During our two night stay the staff went ‘above and beyond’ for example when it was cold and rainy we were offered a lift to the station! In fact we walked there but no large hotel would even think of it. There are bus stops right outside the hotel but it is also only just over 20 minutes to walk into town which is what we did. We liked the hotel’s emphasis on sustainability with local produce for breakfast and organic toiletries. Our room was spotless and very warm on arrival. Some minor issues were: the hot and cold taps in our room were not marked, the sink was small and the shower area could have done with soap dishes and hooks. The bed was on the small side and there was little wardrobe. But the building is also Listed so there may be some constraints and these issues apart, it was still an excellent hotel which had just had a refit. Thanks to Travelzoo for this deal.
