Hongjue Temple is located in Zutangshan, Dongshanqiao Town, Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It was built in Liang Tianjian, the second year of the Southern Dynasty (503). The first name is "Buddha Grotto Temple" and later "Hongjue Temple". The Qing Dynasty changed its name to "Hongjue Temple" to avoid the name of Emperor Qianlong's Hongli. Hongjue Temple is situated on the back of Niushou Mountain, facing Yuntai Mountain, surrounded by left and right mountains. Hongjue Temple is a famous temple in Jinling. It was built by Sikong Xudu in the second year of Tianjian (503) of Emperor Wudi of Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty. It was originally called Buddhist Grotto Temple. During the Ming Orthodox Period (1436-1449), it was renamed as one of the eight great temples in Nanjing in the Ming Dynasty. It occupies a large area, not many people, probably because it is too remote. The architecture is very characteristic. If you have just been to the Second Mausoleum of the Southern Tang Dynasty, you can enter from the Nanshan Gate first, because the two places are the choice of fork intersection. If you want to go to Hongjue Temple first, you can enter from the main entrance, travel from the Nanshan Gate to the Second Mausoleum of the Southern Tang Dynasty, without any tickets, and drive all the way to the nearest end. It's very convenient. It's a little inconvenient to choose the bus. The scenic spot is very large and worth visiting carefully.
